2MB Cache...Do Not Buy This!.......2003-08-07
Why pay for this, when you can probably get the 8MB cache version for nearly the same price?
Reliable!.......2003-03-04
I have this same exact model, I purchased it in the summer of 2002, and it is nothing less than the most stable hard drive i have yet found. I have had zero confilicts resulting from fault of my hardrive the whole time I have had it, and belive me I use my computer alllll the time, this is a really good harddive to buy, even though you may think it's cheap for a high quality hard drive, that only makes it better, I think this is the best hard drive to buy that's widely availiable right now!!
Great Performance Drive.......2002-07-23
I purchased this hard drive in December 2001 and ran Win 98SE for six months without a problem. When I upgraded my system in June 2002 I purchased a second WD1000BB and configured it in a RAID array under WinXP. The performance is nothing less than breathtaking. I do a large amount of image editing and large files are available instantly. If you really want good performance for a low price purchase this drive. If you want even better performance and don't want to buy the additional hardware involved with a RAID system then look for the WD1000JB. This drive steps up from 2MB to 8MB of buffer and really makes a difference in some benchmarks. For most home users the 2MB WD1000BB is more than adequate and should provide several years of reliable use.
