And of course, it supports Nextel's legendary Direct Connect walkie-talkie functions so you can connect with people in your work and personal network at the push of a button.

<B>Design</B>
Like other Nextel phones, the i90c is built tough for construction and utilities industry users. The inside of the phone's flip-up cover phone sports a grayscale LCD color display. Meanwhile, the outside cover features a supplementary monochrome display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The trademark Direct Connect and menu scrolling functions can be controlled from the side of the phone. A standard 2.5mm headset jack is provided on top of the phone. The phone's software features one-touch shortcuts to phone features and easy, icon-driven menus.

<B>Calling Features</B>
The i90c's built-in address book can store up to 250 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with built-in ringtones plus a vibrating alert. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. The phone supports up to 20 voice dialing contacts. A built- in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear.

One of the key features of any Nextel phone is support for Nextel's Direct Connect walkie-talkie technology. The i90c fully supports the service, which allows for one-touch conversations with anyone else on a Nextel phone. It's like a having a CB radio with enough range to cover all of North America.

<B>Messaging, Internet and Tools</B>
The i90c features support for two-way mobile-to-mobile or mobile-to-email text messaging (Nextel messaging charges apply). T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the i90c, as well. Nextel's optional Nextel Online package allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Nextel Online also features games, ringtones, realtime news and sports updates, virtual address books, and more-- all delivered to your Nextel phone.

The i90c ships with a calendar application that lets you book meetings, plan events, and set alarms that will automatically turn on the phone if needed. In addition to a Java-based calculator, there's also a voice recording application that lets you record up to three minutes of audio. A time and date clock are included, as well.

<B>Entertainment</B>
For those who want a little fun with their phone, the i90c ships with some built-in games from Sega. More games can be downloaded from the Nextel Online service.

<B>Vital Statistics</B>
The Motorola i90c weighs 5.33 ounces and measures 3.50 x 2.00 x 1.10 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 75 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the IDEN 800 frequency. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Nextel is most expensive service with the worst reception/service.......2005-08-26

Nextel has bad reception in Northeast USA. Not sure about the rest of the country. Also, Nextel has the highest price among all the other service providers. They add $24 additional surcharges and hidden cost on top of you monthly fee. Other carrier have approximately $10 additional charge. Nextel charge you more and you get less. Also, they have poor customer service with no compensation for you dropped calls or no service at all.

1 out of 5 stars WARNING.......2005-07-22

My problems with nextel did not stop when I canceled my service. I will get to the problems with the service. When I went to get a new phone a day before my contract expired, I of course wanted to keep my number. So as I went to get my Cingular phone (highly recommended), I had the old number switched to my new number. Today, I get in the mail my nextel statement for the month with a $200 early termination even though I had not canceled my service, but had simply got a new phone and switched my number over. This was on icing on the cake after 2 years of absolutely amazingy bad service from nextel. In my town, not a small town by any means, there are very few places that have any service. In the largest subdivision, you cannot get service anywhere. I constantly get comments from people trying to reach me that get the classic nextel line...Please hold while the nextel subscriber you are trying to reach is located. Most of the time I would not even recieve incoming calls, calls would go straight to my voice mail. Not only would I not get the calls, but often I would not even get the voice mails until days or even weeks later. When I did actually take calls (and call out), I cannot count the number of times I've had my call dropped. I recieved so many different error messages sometimes I wonder if they just spend all their time at nextel thinking of different error messages to program into their phones. That brings me to the selling point of nextel, the famed and well-loved direct connect feature. This is an absolute joke. Direct connect only works MAYBE half the time I tried to use it. Even then, in the middle of the conversation I would be greeted by the loud beep of my phone telling me I wont be talking to that person anymore. Of course, I would expect nothing less from the nextel network. Text messaging with nextel is next to impossible. If it did not take hours to send or recieve a message, it took days, or maybe didn't even come at all. The internet access was fine, it the rare instance that it worked. Of course, when you don't have service, you don't get the internet access either. I was constantly getting the message "network not available". Calling and trying to complain to nextel is futile. Trying to get through to customer service takes forever and once you get through they do nothing. My experience with nextel has been nothing short of a disaster and I write this trying to warn anyone considering nextel. Stick with Verizon or Cingular and you will be much happier in the end. Don't make the same mistake I did.

5 out of 5 stars Owned them all.......2005-07-01

I have been with nextel for the last 10 years and i have owned every phone they have ever released from the IDEN to the I860 and the phone that I had the least amount of problems with is the I90. Great phone I miss it alot.

4 out of 5 stars It has games and a calculator.......2005-01-24

The previous reviewer said i90c doesn't have a calculator or games, that's incorrect. Under "Java Apps", you can find a calculator, a small utility to help calc the tips, and a few games. I've owned this phone for over a year, the quality has been great, but it looks kinda too bulky now so I replaced it with A630.

3 out of 5 stars Great quality, but very outdated.......2004-10-16

This was a fantastic phone 3 years ago, and while it still has that high level of quality that makes Motorola so great, it is very outdated at this point. Without a color screen, a camera, a calculator or calander, this phone isn't good for much more beyond calling people. It has a strong signal with great audio quality, but it doesn't even have any games (oh no!) So while I wouldn't be too hasty to get rid of this phone if it still serves you well, I also wouldn't run out and buy this phone new.
