5 out of 5 stars Why!.......2007-04-16

Because it's an as you use plan.
I had one of those plans before where I paid 50 dollars a month for two lines and, you know, like a gazillion minutes evening and 30 anytime. Wasn't even using the 30 anytime minutes to when the contract ended! So did my usage. Tracfone allows me to control my minutes, admitedly I don't use my phone for a lot except emergencies but it is nice if you DON'T have to have for business. Although I would use mine for business.

1 out of 5 stars Losing your purchased minutes.......2002-01-12

When I first received this phone, I was very happy with it. That changed quickly, however. I bought the phone with a 120 minute 1-year activation card, and chose extra minutes instead of a cash rebate with purchase of the phone. In total, I had over 200 minutes of time when my phone suddenly went dead one day. After trying many things, a customer service rep explained that I would have to mail it back to the factory, which I did, and received a new phone back 2 weeks later...without any minutes. Apparently, TracFone has no way to track available time, other than the phone itself. Since mine was defective, the minutes I paid for were lost. I spent over an hour on the phone with CSR's, after which they "generously" (the CSR's word) gave me 30 minutes of airtime to fix the problem. Be wary of this company. If your phone breaks, is lost or stolen, or if it just dies, there is no way to recoup your expense of purchased airtime.
