Amazon.com Product Description
If your desktop is prime real estate but your work is graphic intensive, the MultiSync 1700V LCD monitor's small footprint, rich color, and bright display provide a solution on all levels. The LCD screen has a 17.0-inch viewable area, with a 1,024 x 768 maximum resolution. The high contrast ratio (400:1) makes the display is crisp, and an intuitive onscreen manager lets you easily adjust contrast, brightness, and other settings.
The OmniColor technology provides brilliant color calibration, with sRGB support and six-axis color control (red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, cyan), making the monitor ideal for multimedia tasks like desktop publishing and graphics-intensive work.
The sleek casing and base keep the monitor stable even when the screen is tilted at its extremes, up to 150 degrees horizontal and 110 degrees vertical. The anti-static, anti-glare screen features a treatment that refracts unwanted light away from you, and the 1550M is both TCO '99 and ENERGY 2000 compliant, in keeping with the strict standards for low radiation, safety, ergonomics, recycling and power management.
With Plug and Play installation and connection via a 15-pin Dsub cable, the monitor is compatible with PCs and Macs, Sun, Silicon Graphics, and other workstations, and x-terminals. The three-year onsite warranty includes the backlight.
Customer Reviews:
Lucky me I guess.......2006-10-08
I have had this monitor for 4 years now and it is doing great (well the best a "old" monitor can do). I would have to say it is on 16+ hours day for the time I have had it. Sorry to hear everyone else are having problems, maybe I got lucky before the bad one came out. I was coming here to get the specs on it and took a look at the reviews. Just gave it 4 stars because of what everyone has said here, I would had given it 5 if I didn't see all the bad ones talked about.
PEICE OF TRASH.......2006-02-01
I work in a Chicago Children's Hospital and we purchased 5 of these pieces of garbage to have 3 of them all have the same problem shortly after the warranty expired. Screen powers up for a split second then goes black. I swapped oout the power supplies to rule that out. It is definately the monitor. I would not recommend these to anybody unless they like to pay $300 for a doorstop NO MORE NEC's FROM NOW ON
Ours lasted 3 years 1 week.......2006-01-16
Same problems as described below. Screen goes black and never returns. Cost over $500 three years ago. NEC sold a lemon model that breaks withen one month of warrenty expiring.
Good for 3 years - Is this acceptable????.......2005-11-29
I've had my 1700V for 3 years now and was perfectly fine until recently I got the same error many others seem to have had. The screen goes black and if you power off and on it bursts into life for just a second. This is clearly a common fault with these monitors - but is that acceptable??? Not in my books. If this is a known fault and the life expectancy is only a couple of years then surely NEC should replace the units....Of course this is the REAL world and that just isn't going to happen...is it? No more NEC for me............
NEC Multisync LCD 1700V - good while it lasted!.......2005-11-03
I purchased this monitor almost as new, and it worked great for about a year, then it just went black. If I turned it off and repowered it would come on for about one second, but then go black again. Power lite stays on. I hooked it up to two other computers and the problem followed the monitor. It was not my computer, but it was the monitor.
I contacted NEC, no luck, out of warranty.
