Amazon.com Product Description

The E90f from ViewSonic is a 19-inch (18-inch viewable image size) flat-screen CRT monitor that features both quality and an affordable price tag. A maximum resolution of 1,792 x 1,344 dpi combines with a 106 Hz maximum refresh rate (at lower resolutions) and 0.21 mm dot pitch (0.25 mm diagonal) to provide detailed images suitable for a wide variety of home and home office needs.

The anti-glare screen treatment cuts back on harmful reflection and resulting eye-strain, while SuperClear screen technology helps provide rich, vivid colors. With the onscreen controls, you can adjust a wide variety of monitor settings, including tilt, pincushion, brightness, contrast, H/V position, H/V size, color temperature, display frequency, and much more. The internal two-watt stereo speakers and headphone jack provide a built-in audio source, while the internal microphone and external microphone jack provide a convenient audio input.

MPR II and Energy Star certified, the E90f connects to your computer via a 15-pin mini D-sub. An optional USB hub is also available for peripherals. The monitor is plug-and-play ready to use right out of the box. It weighs 48.5 pounds, has a footprint of 17.6 by 18.3 inches, and consumes 100 watts of power (typical) during normal operation. PC and Mac compatible, the E90f also comes backed with a three-year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Not fit for office use.......2006-10-12

I wanted a 1600x1200 resolution at 19". This is what this product advertises- but this is impossible. The refresh rate is too slow, you cannot use this setting at all.
I'm a developer. I look at tons of text all day long. I scroll through thousands of lines of code.
I have a dual screen setup, my lefty is a CTX 17" color monitor. And I needed a decent replacement for my righty. It seemed at the time the ViewSonic 19" E90f True Flat was a good choice. I read up a ton on the matter.
But the thing is terrible. At 1600x1200 the refresh rate is horrid. A step down for me is 1280x1024. This is decent- It's actually possible to look at a white background on a webpage. But at that setting, it's the same as my lefty, only bigger size physically on my desk.
This monitor is not fit for -office- use.

5 out of 5 stars Workhorse still going strong.......2005-09-20

I've had this monitor for something like 4 years now, and it has never once disappointed me. I will grant that I am not a graphics professional but I do a great deal of graphics-intensive gaming on my system and the monitor has always outperformed my friends' and colleagues' monitors, both in terms of resolution/pixel size, and refresh rate.

It's never had any failures, the color has never gone out of whack, never had to have it serviced, etc... the interface for controlling all the settings (which has to be fiddled with a bit to get the monitor in the perfect viewing nirvana) are difficult to use at first, but don't take too long for a determined novice to learn.

An extremely solid monitor at an awesome, competitive price.

2 out of 5 stars cheap.......2004-03-27

received as a gift, and no later than 1 1/2 year old started having a short inside monitor, currently i have to beat/bang on top/side to get full brightness, (very annoying)..personally i'll never buy their products.

4 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL monitor for most people.......2003-07-30

With a few small gripes, this monitor is still wonderful for most. (NOT good for Graphics Professionals.) If you don't want to go above 1280x960 on a 19" monitor, and you're on Windows, you're pretty much guaranteed to be happy to get this monitor at this pricepoint. The color is pretty good, the pixels are fairly small, and a 75 refresh rate(at 1280x960) isn't half bad. This is one of the best 19" monitors you can get for around this pricepoint.

The gripes...

- Slight moire towards the side near the lower part of the monitor under Linux or the Mac OS. (9, X) cannot be gotten rid of using on-screen Moire reduction controls, and Degauss does not effect it. It can be gotten rid of in other ways, but they're more difficult.

- at 1280x960, the maximum refresh rate is 75, which is a bit low. Going above 1280x960 can make the refresh rate intolerably low. (The monitor supports a 1600x1200 resolution)

- On-screen controls make it unnecessarily difficult to fix trapezoidal/pincussion issues compared to some other brands, and the higher-end Viewsonic monitors.

- This monitor is *BRIGHT*. With the brightness settings on the monitor all the way down, the monitor was still far too bright, and required some tweaking from within the OS to bring the brightness down to a comfortable level.

Overall, though, it is about half the price of the monitors that are gripe-free, and compared to other 19" monitors in the same price point, the issues I experienced with the Viewsonic e90f were minimal and easy to resolve.
