Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great phone!!.......2007-02-08

I have had this phone for a few years now and I think it's great. I have never had to replace the battery and it still keeps its charge for a long time. I have never had an issue. All the features are so easy to figure out. For someone that doesn't need anything fancy, it's the perfect phone.

5 out of 5 stars It's My Phone!!.......2005-11-12

This is a great phone. The backlight is great, a really nice no nonsense phone. I love it. However-the riingtones are not the best, and neither are the games. Overall, this is a nice phone.

4 out of 5 stars Good Phone for No-Nonsense Users.......2005-11-05

There are obviously fancier phones in existence than the r225, but for the person who is interested in using their phone to actually make and receive calls, and not as a video game player, camera or music player, this is a good choice. The phone features a great blue backlight (which can be turned off), an easy-to-use menu system that allows you to customize pretty much everything and good reception. To address some of the criticisms by other users:

1) It's silly to call this phone "cheap." If you want a platinum-plated phone, look elsewhere. Samsung makes quality products, and this phone is no exception. It's small but very durable.
2) Battery time could be better, but extended batteries are available online for a low price. Incidentally, if you turn off the backlight, your battery will last MUCH longer.
3) If you don't like the default ring, there are many rings to choose from! Plus, you can adjust the ring volume if you think it's too loud. I am using J.S. Bach's Toccata and Fugue for organ which is nice and low-pitched, but if you don't like any of the rings that come with the phone, use your imagination and compose one, or download one!
4) The phonebook is accessed by pushing one button and then either scrolling up or down. I guess for some that's too much work; they'd like a phonebook that works by telepathy.
5) Reception on T-mobile in Manhattan is great. Obviously, your reception will vary depending on location, but the sound is very good even with only two bars on the reception indicator.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible phone....but keeps on going.....unfortunately!.......2005-10-23

I've had this phone for a couple of years now...and the only reason I have it still is because the new one I bought was busted. This is a horrible phone. The reception is horrible - always static on the line, my voice echoes in it when i'm talking on the phone. The battery life is horrid - I have to recharge it every night it seems! The only positive thing I have to say about this phone is that it seems to be pretty durable. I've dropped it countless times and it's still around...surprisingly! Overall, I would not recommend this phone to anyone!

1 out of 5 stars Cheap and awful.......2005-10-22

Have had this phone for a year but didn't use it much (got a better phone then switched back when it was stolen). It is annoying in every respect but finally just stopped working. I take it to T Mobile and they are helpless...want to charge me $200 for a new one because I have a contract (this after they collected $300 for "ringtones" downloaded by someone who stole my other phone and spent $400 in less than 24 hours which T Mobile wouldn't help with. Phone is difficult to navigate, you MUST lock keys to put it in your pocket, it doesn't tell you ho many messages or whether old or new or voice or text, just that there is a message, ring is annoying, battery life is poor...T Mobile can take the phone and my contract and ...it.
