Customer Reviews:
The good and the bad........2006-01-02
I love this this monitor for what I use it for. I have a dual monitor setup one LCD and one 930SB. I use the lcd for any text based work and the 930SB is for gaming/picture editing. I like the 930SB because I haven't found an LCD that can display an image as nicely as 930SB can. Remember that LCD are going to be sharper that crt for viewing text.
Awful, awful monitor.......2005-12-16
After reading lots of online reviews for this monitor, I bought one a year ago and I have to say that it is the worst monitor I've ever had.
It had to go back to NEC twice within the first 4 months, once for a colour problem (no red if I remember correctly) and the second time to fix bad focusing (which wasn't really fixed to my satisfaction).
Good monitor for gaming, bad bad bad for text, the focus is terrible in some areas of the screen. To cap it all, text has just started shimmering and I fear that the tube is on the way out.
All in all, I would say that according to reviews its the best CRT out there, in my experience it's awful, do yourself a favour and buy a Samsung SM913N 19" LCD instead.
Terrible text and images.......2005-10-20
I received a Viewsonic G90fB today. In choosing this monitor I ignored the professional reviews which say it is mediocre and believed the customer reviews here and elsewhere most of which say it is great.
This monitor has the worst text clarity I've ever seen. The colors and detail in images are also terrible. I have it hooked up dual-head with a Dell 1905FP, and viewing the same images on both monitors. It is a night and day difference in both color and detail.
Wow this is bad. Not sure if I can return it but I plan to try.
Great Monitor! Great Price!!.......2005-08-26
I have had this monitor for about 6 months now and I have to say it is the best in its class. Great graphics, great text(you people who are having text issues may want to upgrade your video cards). I can't say enough about this monitor. I have researched for a long time until I came upon this product. It simply blows away the competition from DELL, SONY, Viewsonic and the others. I concur with the annoying buzzing sound that has been mentioned in some of the other reviews as my only complaint.
Great Grafix, lousy text, hard wired signal cabal. shortlife.......2005-01-25
This is exceptional in games and the SB mode is perfect on those bright sunny days when you want to leave the blinds opened and see your games even though the sun is glaring at you off of people's chrome plated pick up trucks. However many LCD's play games even better with a 12 ms response time that is. Text at a higher res is not so good, but for text 1024x768 is enough for me as I only use that aspect for writing and typing fiction stories(non-professional) using Office '03. If you use spread sheet or any lotus program you will need a higher res(and a larger monitor), as my Dad does. The VGA signal cable is hard wired rather than a detatchable unit. I have on many occaison jerked the monitor around on my office desk and had the cable catch on the hole in the desk where I put it and I cannot replace this cable as it is built in. If it ever goes, I will have to replace this monitor. Bare this in mind when you purchase a monitor not all of them have a separate signal cable anymore. Now that I've had this for six months, I can tell you it ain't all it's cracked up to be. It whines VERY loud and is unexceptable to be around. It is amazing the junk they peddle in stores these days! Most CRTs made these days are not made with pride. I wouldn't buy it new again! And now it is not available and with good reason. As with ANY electronic, you should NEVER pay money for a "refurbished" model, what in heck is a "refurbished" monitor anyway; some goober with a screwdriver and a soldering gun doing a messy job that's what! STAY AWAY!
