The SmartMedia Card (SSFDC) is the industry thinnest form factor Digital storage media. It provides low cost, digital data storage in a very small interchangeable format. SmartMedia, consists of a single NAND flash electronically erasable memory chip embedded in a thin plastic card. The SmartMedia measures 45mm 37mm 0.76mm only 1/4 the size of a credit card. The SmartMedia's data format standard, which is based on the ATA and DOS standard, ensures interoperability and interchangeability among different applications and systems. Combining the versatility of a floppy disk, the SmartMedia card is ideal for applications, which demand flexibility and a small form factor.
