Ricoh's MP7120A drive enables 12X Writing (CD-R), 10x ReWriting (CD-RW) and 32x Reading. A newly developed high-speed controller, LSI provides superior packet writing performance. Light-weight pickup module provides stable write operation while enabling access at the outstanding speed of 120 msec. The drive is equipped with large, 4MB-memory buffer. This prevents buffer under-run errors, a type of error that occurs during write operation, and increases the security of high-speed recording. Equipped with S/PDIF terminals, the MP7120A is capable of outputting digital audio data. A running OPC (Optimum Power Control) is employed to continually set the optimum laser power during write operation. Consuming only 10W of power, the MP7120A is also designed for minimal heat radiation. Dust-proofing measures such as shielding of the pickup ensure a long stable operating life.
