Thanks to new Ricoh technologies like an extra-small pickup module, an advanced controller, and an analog front-end processor, the MP3 achieves 4x writing for both CD-R and CD-RW discs with a 120-millisecond average access time. The drive also reads data at a maximum 20x speed, allowing you to use it as a CD-ROM drive replacement. You can also depend on reliable writing thanks to Running OPC (Optimum Power Control) and a 2 MB buffer memory that helps eliminate buffer underrun, a cause of writing errors. Disc-at-once writing is also possible on the drive with various software when pre-mastering.
