It also has a PAL/NTSC converter, enabling you to watch PAL movies on an NTSC television (the format used in the U.S.) and vice versa. And, when combined with a digital TV, this DVD player delivers smooth, enhanced progressive-scan (480p) images.

In addition to DVD movie discs, the EDP3110 is compatible with CD-R/RW, VCD, and SVCD discs and MP3 digital files. It has three aspect ratio modes--16:9 widescreen, 4:3 standard, and 4:3 Pan and Scan. It offers composite and S-Video connections, making it easy to hook up to your TV or receiver, as well as a coaxial digital audio output for 5.1-channel surround sound and Dolby Digital and DTS ecoders. Other features include multi-language display (English, French, Spanish), multi-speed forward and reverse, and slow motion.

Region Free Code
This DVD player requires you to enter a code via remote control to open the region-free feature. Open tray, press on the remote, stop-2-3-7-9, press arrow down until 0, then press OK.

Windows ME is not recognised by the software supplied with this hard drive. So when it tries to partition the drive it detects the OS as a FAT16 OS instead of FAT 32. Western Digital is aware of this problem and you only need to call up tech support (for free) and they will help you out. I had the new drive up and running in about a 1/2 hr max. There is just one problem: ME has a problem with the new drive and says that it is running it thru MS-DOS compatibility mode or something. But so far (one week) the drive has been working ok.

The drive is great, but to install it in my Compaq, I needed to buy a special mounting bracket. The rebate is misleading, you only get the money back if you send your old drive. Overall I am really happy with the purchase and do recommend it, but before you order open your PC up, and see where you plan to mount the drive then order the appropriate bracket size to go with it. Enjoy all that extra space!

Solid Drive, software questionable.......2000-08-11

I don't know about longevity because I just bought it but my PC had no problem rcognizing this drive. The bundled software used to copy my old disk to this one isn't working however and so I will probably have to go with some 3rd party software to switch disks completely. If you are just looking for some reasonably priced extra room this is a good bet. One more star if I get my rebate.

As a computer Technician I have a lot of experience with hard drives. WD has been my favorite drive manufature for many years now. No drive has proven itself more reliable or compatible with other devices that WD. Add on top of that a low price, how can anyone go wrong?

If you need more storage space, then you'll find a bargin onAmazon.com. Western Digital's 13 GB hard drive is just what a lot ofus are looking for. Good size-13 GB (My 3.2 GB that came standard on my Compaq computer, is constantly at the upper limit with all the programs and games that are loaded in.) All of you know what happens to a hard drive that is getting full, it slows down to a crawl. Aren't you tired of sitting for minute-after-minute waiting for a program to start up? Adding this hard drive will speed things up, while giving you additional room to expand. Western Digital is known for its quality products and great service. That sure takes a lot of worry out any problem that might crop up( and that will probably be rare because of the self-repairing program which runs to find and repair problems that might come along )...This might not be the fastest spindle speed(this is why it earned 4*s and not 5), but at 5400 rpm it is as fast as the original hard drive. Plus access speed is approx. 9.5 ms, which is probably faster that the speed in most of the computers out there. Guess you didn't expect a hard drive bargin at Amazon.com, did you? But that is just what you'll find there.
