Amazon.com Product Description
GoVideo's R6740 DVD recorder lets you easily record your favorite television shows and treasured home videos to high-quality, long-lasting DVD+R (write-once) and DVD+RW (rewriteable) discs. The recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to 5 timer recordings over a full year, with 4 recording speeds providing between 1 and 6 hours of content on each DVD disc. The R6740's high-quality recordings and easy operation make it a perfect replacement for the traditional VCR.

The R6740's versatile playback features include progressive-scan video outputs and support for recordable CDs filled with MP3 audio files and JPEG images. A variety of video and audio inputs--including front-panel connections for fast, temporary hookups--grant connection to virtually all televisions and home theater components. An easy-to-use full-function remote control commands all the action.

The R6740 features an integrated EZ-Guide feature that helps simplify DVD recording by walking you step-by-step through recording a variety of content to DVD. An intuitive sequence of questions and instructions appear onscreen to guide users from start to finish through the recording process. The R6740 also comes with GoVideo's innovative AutoPlay feature, designed to skips ads, trailers, and menus, jumping right to the start of your movie. Simply place the disc in the tray, press the play key, and the movie starts without interruption.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the R6740 stands ready to deliver the full playback potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

When recording, the unit automatically creates a new disc title every time you start a new recording. You can then add chapters to these recordings manually or have them automatically inserted at 5-minute intervals (up to 30 minutes).

Connections include a pair of composite- and S-video inputs, an RF antenna input, and an IEEE 1394 DV (digital video) input for a direct, high-quality connection with a digital camcorder. Front-panel inputs (including the DV input) foster easy hookups with camcorders and other video components.

DVD+RW discs require no finalizing: you can record, eject, and play them with minimal fuss, thanks to "background formatting." This feature, which lowers total burning time, is an advantage over the "dash" formats. Other DVD+RW advantages include on-disc content editing and multisession writing. And, through DVD+RW and DVD+R's compatibility with most existing DVD players, they're a great way for you to share your special memories with family and friends.

To help you navigate the transition from VCR to DVD recording, GoVideo's "white-glove customer care" includes free telephone assistance in making your first recording, should you need it.

It is the first of the Compaq Aero series to adopt Microsoft's latest operating system for PDAs that includes pocket versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and many other applications. Other features of this pocket PC include an infrared port for one-button data transfer, a CompactFlash card slot, a microphone, and a headphone output.

The Compaq Aero 1550 delivers up to 14 hours of use through its rechargeable lithium-ion battery. A backup battery and an AC adapter help keep the unit charged so you never lose your data. In addition to these features, the Compaq Aero 1550 offers a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

    1 out of 5 stars disappointment.......2004-03-25

At first it was amazing. It simply locked up and wouldn't turn off. Had to take out battery to initialize, then one day that didn't work. Sent in for warranty service. Got it back and a couple of weeks later the screen cracked with light use of the stylus. Sent it back for warranty repair. They refused claiming a cracked screen was sign of abuse, period. Never got it serviced, never got my money back, they treated me like I was trying to [cheat] them. A total waste of money and worse than that the 12 people who bought it on my recommendation probably had similar experiences. Compaq/HP customer support are you out there?

    3 out of 5 stars Aero 1550.......2001-12-23

This is my 2nd pocket pc from compaq, It took a little adjustment but I really like this model. The price was great and it performs well. I recommend this unit.

    4 out of 5 stars Very Good.......2001-10-01

Although you can see the colors, this Pocket PC PDA is really helpful at your work, home or just when you get a little bored.

The pocket versions of word, excel, outlook and explorer are compatible with your desktop PC so that you can carry important documents everywhere and read your e-mail.

The infrared port works OK (I've tried it transfering contacts to an Ipaq). The battery last for a long time since the lcd screen is B&W (grey scale).

5 out of 5 stars Aero - simple, yet powerful.......2001-09-11

Did you ever buy something that you so believed in that you felt compelled to be an unaffiliated spokesperson for the product? That is how I feel about the Aero, and probably explains why I am writing this review. I am an officer in the army, and the Aero keeps me punctual and organized. The Microsoft CE system is outstanding and interfaces well with Microsoft Office. I can store Word, Excel, and all of my contacts and scheduled appointments on the Aero. I appreciate the audible reminder that I can set to remind me in the fury of an average day about a critical meeting. The Compaq Aero has everything that I was looking for in a PDA. If you can sacrifice the flash of color that you get with an IPAQ or Jornada for the slender, well priced, light, grey scale Aero, then this is for you.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Device.......2001-05-09

I was very impressed, in particular, by the Screen on this thing. When I decided to get the gray-scale Aero instead of the iPaq (which would have required waiting another 4 months), I thought I would be very disappointed by the screen. Having a handspring, I was assuming the screen to be very similar -- boy was I wrong. The Aero has a high-quality, high-resolution screen that rivals the quality of some desktops (yes, ok, it is much smaller -- but it is very easy to read). The backlighting is done intelligently & a modular port is available for upgrading the unit. One caution: don't drop it, it dings, dents and scratches easily -- and the silver unit really shows the marks.
