The Panasonic SC-HT1000, which integrates its progressive-scan DVD player/recorder with a 5.1-channel surround-sound system, turns your living room into a comprehensive home theater while also giving you the capacity to record in DVD-RAM and DVD-R formats. The progressive-scan feature guarantees the sharpest picture quality possible for DVD-Video, with a signal that offers double the scan lines of conventional DVD images when played on high-definition or HD-ready TVs. The system also offers DVD-Audio compatibility, letting it reproduce the wide frequency range and impressive signal-to-noise ratio of the enhanced audio format. The SC-HT1000 runs at 430 watts of total power: 35 watts for the two front "tallboy" speakers and two surround speakers, 140 watts for the center channel, and 150 watts for the subwoofer. In addition, each of the speakers is magnetically shielded to protect the picture from distortion. Compatible media formats include DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, CD, CD-R/RW, Video CD, and MP3. Other features include an integrated AM/FM digital tuner, a cinema mode, a dialogue enhancer, and 54 MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog conversion. So far so good.......2000-11-11

I just received this monitor about 3 hours ago, and so far so good. It was easy to set up, but no drivers were included, .... They work with windows2000 and 9x. I of course had to adjust the image with the on screen controls. The image was off center and one side was tilted up, but that was easily fixed. This is not a flat screen, but for the price I did not expect it, that said, the curve is not bad and doesn't bother me at all. The images are very sharp, and the text is good, but could be a little sharper. The length of the monitor is shorter than my 17" CTX, and I was pleased to find out that it is TCO99 compliant. The warranty also looks good because it is 3 year with shipping paid both ways during the first year. (that's the main reason I took a chance on it). Since I have been using it for about 3 hours, I can't comment on the durability, but I would rate the picture between that of my KDS VS-195sn and my LG Studioworks 995e with it being closer to the LG (better). Like the LG, I have noticed a little fading where black and light images meet - the lines are not crisp at those places. Also when I was booting windows I saw curvy lines go accross the screen, but they disappeared in a few seconds as the monitor warmed up. The date of manufacture on mine is November of 1999 so I assume they have been sitting around for a year. ...
