Its autosensing power adapter (AC 100 to 240V, 50/60 Hz) makes it perfect for international use, too -- a great companion for business or pleasure. The book-thin, MP3-friendly player features a broad 8-inch LCD configured in a widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio whose dimensions closely approximate those of your favorite contemporary movies. It conveniently swivels 180 degrees, enabling you to get the best view wherever you are. It's also compatible with most gaming systems (optional adapter required).

The PDV-0713A also offers built-in stereo speakers for headphones-free listening, picture zoom, and compatibility with DVD-Video, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs -- not to mention digital photos stored as JPEG images on recordable CD (you can rotate and zoom on these, as well). Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output (through a .125-inch minijack-to-RCA coaxial cable, not supplied) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Headphones are not included, though you do get a handy splitter for listening with a friend.

Amazon.com Product Description

Now you have the option to travel light and still have all your essential presentation equipment with you. The portable InFocus LP400 LCD projector can lessen your burden while making your presentations more effective. It's easy to carry and runs quietly, and its high resolution and a powerful 700 ANSI lumens of brightness combine to provide crisp, brilliantly colored images.

InFocus helps you put on your most professional presentation by offering a built-in manual zoom and focus lens so you can focus without moving the projector. Easy connection with the InFocus CableWizard2 Lite provides plug-and-project setup, while advanced electronics supply automatic synchronization, tracking, image positioning, and video source detection. Plus, true 800 x 600 SVGA resolution and compression providing up to 1,024 x 768 are designed to match the most common outputs of your notebook computer.

Just under 7 pounds and measuring only 9 by 12 by 3 inches, the LP400 operates from an easy-to-use LCD backlit control panel. With a 700-lumen output, you won't likely need to dim the lights, and its metal halide lamp is rated to last 1,000 hours.

Using Digital Light Processing technology to provide film-like resolution, the InFocus LP400 LCD projector works with all video inputs. For example, the projector automatically resizes output for a 1080i HDTV input, preserving HDTV's 16:9 ratio. A 1-watt speaker delivers built-in audio, and quiet internal operation helps keep your audience's attention, distraction-free.

The InFocus LP400 is small enough to fit into a briefcase with your laptop computer and includes (along with its own soft carrying case) CableWizard and an Executive Remote Plus remote control. InFocus's Priority Care service package includes 90 days of free round-the-clock technical support while you master all the functions, plus a one-year overnight replacement program and a two-year standard warranty on parts and labor.

Product Description

The award-winning InFocus personal projectors will definitely make your life on the road easier. Starting at just 4.8 pounds, they'll fit in the same bag as your notebook computer. They're equally at home in tiny spaces (like overhead bins) as they are in conference rooms. The biggest thing you carry into a meeting ought to be your ideas. And the projector ought to be yours too. Which is why you need the InFocus LP400. It's a hip little projector with a "take me anywhere" attitude. 700 lumens means you don't have to dim the room lights. Its Digital Light Processing display stays uniformly bright from corner to corner. Go on ? get one of your own.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars It's decent and there are drawbacks.......2006-04-07

InFocus has always made excellent projector products and they are always competitively priced with other manufacturers in the projector marketplace. The LP400 is no exception to this rule.

Now, however, this product is rather dated and although I still use mine, I'm looking to replace it quite soon since alot of halfway decent projectors have dropped below $700 brand new and are coming well into the reach of those who want to build lower priced home theater systems for their homes. That being said let me review the LP400.

The 700 ANSI Lumens of the LP400 are excellent for usage in mostly dark rooms but barely adequate for dimly lit rooms and completely inadequate in well lit rooms. Dim lights in the room will take away significantly from the projected image so my suggestion is to keep the room as dark as possible. I used red velvet curtains to add a theater type atmosphere and the material is excellent at blocking out the outside light from a window.

For video, you really have only 3 choices of connections: Computer Video, RCA Video or S-Video. There is a slight difference between the RCA Video and the S-Video and you might notice that difference but that's doubtful. However, there is a substantial difference when using the Computer Video. In fact, the jump is exponentially higher even at 640 x 480 resolution; 800 x 600 is the auto/native resolution for this projector, however, and you'll see a very substantial difference if you use a computer to play dvd or project an image.

I have played several DVD's through all of the above listed available video formats and have found that using the computer to play the DVD's yielded the best results with S-Video being next and RCA video being last and this should be expected. As far as home theater is concerned, this system will adequately do the job; although you should not expect a crisp and clear image because of the 400:1 contrast ratio. The speaker being only 1 watt is woefully inadequate for cinema sound so make sure you have a good home theater sound system to be the primary source of sound.

Video games are perhaps the most enjoyable aspect to using the LP400 as they come out very clear. I have played NES, PS1 and PS2 on the projector and all provide a reasonably clear image that is average to good, depending on the console being used.

The biggest drawbacks to this unit, and the reasons I gave it only 3 stars, is the lack of a zoom feature or a keystoning feature and this is likely due to the age of the unit. This makes mounting the LP400 an exact science. If you want to mount the LP400 behind your seating area make sure you elevate it by use of a shelf, a stand or a swivel arm mounted to the wall. I do not suggest mounting this from the ceiling as in a room the size of mine which has a 9' ceiling and is 15' long, I would have to mount the unit at about the midpoint between floor and ceiling. This can prove to be a hassle if you are using a projection screen as I am. If you are projecting against a wall, you have a bit more freedom as to the height of the unit but you'll still have to be careful about the keystoning issue.

Summary:
-Good for video games, adequate for movies. Best used in a dark room where unit is easily reached unless you have the cumbersome remote control box and remote control unit.

Pros:
-800 x 600 resolution is excellent for computers and can pull down and re-size 1024 x 768 or upsize 640 x 480. Console games also play well. DVD's using RCA or S Video are decent.
-S Video gives greater freedom and choice in external video sources.
-Lamp life is excellent.

Cons:
-No zoom feature.
-No keystoning feature.
-Remote control unit is cumbersome if you have it.
-Lack of zoom and keystoning makes mounting difficult.
-Lumens better suited for dark rooms, or very dimly lit rooms.
