Amazon.com Product Description
Ready, steady, Go: you'll be set for whatever adventure the road brings your way when you pack GoVideo's DP7240 portable DVD player. The unit features off-road construction for the rigors of an active lifestyle, including anti-shock protection (ASP) and stylish blue Impact Shield rubber edges. The player's 7-inch LCD is configured in for 16:9 widescreen movies, and it'll spin your photo CDs and music CDs, too.

The DP7240 comes with a rechargeable battery good for around 2.5 hours of playing time and a credit-card-style remote that's small enough to slip into a pocket. The payer's optical-media compatibility extends from standard DVD-Video to recordable DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW, music CD, Kodak Picture CD, and recordable discs filled with JPEG images or MP3 music files. Is it equipped to show your custom slide digital-photo shows to relatives while you're traveling? You bet it is.

Connect a camcorder, video game or other external audio and video source and enjoy home movies and games while you're on the go. Or, take advantage of the unit's coaxial digital-audio output and route it through your surround-decoding AV receiver and multichannel speaker system to get the full benefits of its home theater abilities (coaxial audio cable not included).

Listen through the unit's built-in stereo speakers, or take advantage of its .125-inch headphone jack (headphones not included) to listen in private--or to confine gaming noises to the gamer's head. Additional supplied accessories include a car adapter/charger, an AC adapter/charger, and audio/video hookup cables.

The unit even sports a progressive-scan component-video output for use with your high-definition or HD-ready TV or monitor. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote battery, a rechargeable player battery pack, a DC vehicle power adapter, an AC/DC power adapter, audio/video hookup cables, a user's manual, a quick-reference guide, and warranty information.

Product Description

The slim EM-500 is a mobile multimedia tool that targets both the younger market and professionals. Designed to highlight Casio's new faster processor and available in 5 different colors, the EM-500 is stylishly designed and engineered to take advantage of the new and emerging digital content that is available on the Internet. The EM-500 is the first Pocket PC to feature the new MMC (multimedia card memory system) featuring postage stamp size memory cards with up to 64MB of storage.

Amazon.com Review

The Cassiopeia EM-500, Casio's follow-up to its E-100 series of personal digital assistants, closely mirrors the E-115 but offers a few changes. The biggest change is the move to using MultiMediaCard (MMC) memory over the more standard CompactFlash memory slot. The postage stamp-size MMC cards offer needed memory expandability (as the EM-500 comes with only 16 MB of internal memory, compared to the 32 MB of the E-115), especially if you plan to use the EM-500 as a portable MP3 player--one of its many multimedia capabilities.

While MMC over CompactFlash limits the ability of the EM-500 to use many Pocket PC peripherals, we were willing to overlook that once we got a peek at the EM-500's gorgeous TFT screen. This very bright, very colorful (65,536 colors, to be exact) display shines beautifully when you're playing games or watching mobile video player clips, which run along at a respectable 15 to 20 frames per second with the EM-500's 150 MHz MIPS processor.

The thick EM-500 (about twice the thickness of the Palm Vx) offers standard Casio programmable buttons to bring up the menu, calendar, and contacts, as well as a navigational D-pad, which is great for gaming. In addition to functioning as a stereo MP3 player (when using the included headphones), the EM-500 also works as a voice recorder, allowing you to dictate reminders for yourself or voice messages to send with e-mail. Casio promises six hours of battery life, but we often were able to get seven or more as long as we left the backlight on medium brightness.

With its IrDA port, the EM-500 can communicate with wireless devices, and its USB connection provides speedy data transfer--even installing programs larger than a megabyte took only a few seconds.

Despite the limited memory and the lack of CompactFlash support, the powerful processor, excellent display, and long battery life make the EM-500 a competitive entry into the Pocket PC market. --J. Curtis

5 out of 5 stars Three years old.......2003-10-30

I've had mine for three years. I did buy it new, though. I have been eyeing the Dell Axim, but since there is nothing wrong with my Casio, I can't find any reason to switch.

    1 out of 5 stars Poor craftsmanship!.......2003-08-14

Sure the em-500 is great, while it works! I bought two units off ebay and they were like new when I received them. One worked fine for only about six months, then the internal memory died and left me with a 200 dollar paperweight. The second lasted another six months. Then it too, developed a case of the internal flu. It won't even work right long enough for me too get the information stored in it off! If it were just one unit I might think I were just unlucky, but two going bad tells me these aren't built to withstand even normal use! A paper and pencil would have been so much cheaper!

    5 out of 5 stars Too Cool.......2003-07-22

I purchased it 2 years ago. I used it just a little. Now I sell real estate, and I think it just great. I am learning how many wonderful features it has. The screen is a little hard to read in the sun, but what are sun-glasses for??? I wish that they had not stop making it. Most of my friends use the palm, and they are always saying how hard it is to use, this em-500 is a breeze.

5 out of 5 stars This Pocket Pc Is Great!!!..........2003-01-14

I bought this pocket pc last year ... i enjoy using it and have done what i want with it i use every free software i can find on it and it seems to keep up pretty well considering it is a 2001 model ;) it is a good value for its prize BUT... the battery doesent seem to keep up with me :( but if you want to spend a little more you can buy an extended life battery from casio :) so in conclusion it is a great handheld but its battery life could have been better

5 out of 5 stars Excelent Performance At Low Cost!!.......2002-12-20

I buy this because i needed an organiser (addresses/phone book, notes, etc) and need advance features like Word Excel Money, and this little jewel do it and much more.
Very Good PDA, stable and fast.
Only problem is the low factory memory but
the solution is my 64mb of MMC memory i
    buy with it :)
