Amazon.com Product Description
The low-priced, high-quality remanufactured Panasonic DMR-ES10K DVD recorder is the perfect replacement for your outdated VCR. From a technical perspective, the unit compares favorably to its higher-priced rivals. The 2x LP Horizontal Resolution Recording captures 500 lines of resolution in LP mode--the same detail the deck uses to encode higher-quality SP and XMP modes. This is twice the 250 lines of resolution used in conventional long play recording, letting you store four hours of full-resolution material on a standard 4.7 GB recordable DVD (the deck records on DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD-RAM discs). The DMR-ES10K also offers progressive scan playback (for use with high-definition and HD-ready TVs), which creates a picture signal with twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD player, resulting in higher picture resolution, sharper image quality, and the elimination of virtually all motion artifacts. Combine the two video functions and you have a robust DVD player/recorder that offers film-like image quality for both playback and recording.

Adding to the DMR-ES10K's value are functions like Time Slip and Chasing Playback. Time Slip lets viewers simultaneously record a program, such as this week's episode of a favorite show, while watching last week's episode on the same disc. Chasing Playback, meanwhile, lets you start watching a program from the beginning even when the recording is still in progress. It's the perfect feature for viewers who arrive home a little earlier than expected and don't want to wait until recording concludes before jumping into the meat of the program.

Viewers will also appreciate the one-touch recording, which scans the disc for blank space before starting the recording process, ensuring that you don't accidentally delete a treasured program or sporting event. No more worries that the season finale of Deadwood will be overwritten by granddad's Sunday fishing show. Meanwhile, Panasonic's Direct Navigator simplifies the process of previewing recorded programs, letting you access recorded material from an onscreen menu that lists recording dates, times, channels, and titles. The DMR-ES10K also offers a feature called high-speed quick start. The unit is ready to record just one second after you switch it on, easing your mind on those occasions when you forget (or almost forget) that an important program is airing.

Plus, the DMR-ES10K isn't restricted to DVD-Video playback, with support for DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM, CD, Video CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3-CD formats. The multiple playback options let you replace your outdated CD player with the DMR-ES10K and not miss a beat.

Additional features include an optical digital output for enjoying Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, a two-channel stereo recording mode (Dolby Digital AC-3), bilingual recording on DVD-RAM discs, and a host of front and rear connectors, including front composite and S-video inputs and rear component, S-video, and composite outputs. The DVD recorder measures 16.94 by 2.5 by 13.31 inches (W x H x D) and carries a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

5 out of 5 stars Almost 3 Years and Still Going Strong!.......2002-10-29

I bought the E200 in December 99 and it has been a great monitor. This was my first Sony. I've previously owned NEC & Viewsonic. The flat crt screen, (new then but common now) works great with text. This monitor has great contrast, bright colors and good screen geometry. The single button menu control takes a little bit to get used to, but once you get a feel for it, the menus are easy to navigate. The best thing in my experience with this monitor is the reliability factor. It has been absolutely rock solid. The PC I use basically runs 24/7 and the monitor is probably in powered up/in use for 8-9 hrs avg. per day. If this monitor is still available at a fair price, I would highly recommend picking one up if your in the market for a 17" Flat CRT. However, I have heard that the E210 is the exact same monitor with a 3-yr factory warranty vs. 1-yr with the E200. So if the price difference is negligable, I would go with the E210.
