Tech Talk
Progressive scan: A television with progressive scanning can generate a picture in a single pass, in a similar way to a computer screen. High-end DVD players also support this technology. Conventional interlaced scanning requires two passes to generate a picture: the first pass for the odd-numbered scan lines, the second for the even-numbered scan lines. Progressive scan has a refresh rate of 60 times per second, double the speed of conventional analog TVs, so the picture looks sharper, more solid, and more cinematic.

1 out of 5 stars Sprint PCS is the best wireless service!.......2004-09-27

A year or so ago I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile, because I was offered a free phone and three months of free service. I ended up regretting that decision. T-Mobile's coverage is small compared to other companies. Their GSM network while having the advantage of being able to swap phones pretty easily due to their use of a SIM card, does not provide as good of call quality, privacy, signal strength, ect as Sprints CDMA. CDMA being the best wireless network technology, do a search on Google and read why. And soon the advantage of GSM's SIM card will not only be a GSM advantage. CDMA carriers are working on phasing in R-UIM cards. So CDMA user will also be able to swap out a card from one phone and put it into another.

Also, T-Mobile had a roaming partner in Cingular, but since Cingular is buying AT&T wireless, that contract has been canceled. So this just adds another fault to T-Mobiles service. While on the other hand, Sprint PCS has a roaming agreement with most of the wireless carriers, so their coverage spans almost the whole USA. Plus if you pay the extra $5.00 a month for Sprints Free & clean plan, you get to roam for free. Just has long as less then half of your minutes are roaming. No other wireless carrier gives you that. Except for T-Mobile, but as I mentioned their roaming partners list is becoming less and less. Plus Sprint PCS uses GPS to track 911 phone calls, which is something most of the other carriers are unable, or unwilling to do at this time. So that is a huge plus for anyone that travels a lot and does not always know where they are exactly (Which is me most of the time).

I recently paid the $200 dollar early termination fee so I can end my current T-Mobile contract, so I can get back with the wireless service that I had NO problems with, Sprint PCS. It is not worth any of the gifts and deals that T-Mobile offered me to stay with them. Sprint PCS is the wireless service that I will stay with for the rest of my life.

Lastly, before you lock into any wireless contract, research the companies first. Some wireless carriers might seem like they are offering you great deals, but their is always a catch. I only recommend Sprint PCS, because I have used other carriers and have found Sprint to be the best one for me. But just make sure you investigate the wireless companies first, so you don't end up paying the $200 early termination fee to end a contract. That $200 dollar fee is so wrong to charge. Why should people have to pay money to end a contract with a company whose service has gone down hill?!
For me, that $200 dollars could have been used to buy a new big screen TV or an XBOX!! I hate you T-Mobile!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Coverage and Service.......2004-03-18

I have service everywhere I go, and the customer service couldnt be better.

4 out of 5 stars Very satisfied........2004-03-03

I use T-Mobile's prepay plan, and am quite satisfied. I've never had a problem with service.

The only glitch--watch your prepaid time. I once almost ran out of time, and had to scramble to buy another prepaid card fast. And I did once lose some minutes, as they expired--since then, I buy smaller increments, and pay attention to the expiration date.

It's great to just buy enough to cover exactly what I use, instead of signing up for some punitive plan where you loose minutes or pay an arm and a leg for exceeding your limit.

1 out of 5 stars They can afford Zeta-Jones, why can't I get coverage??.......2003-05-04

Lousy coverage...lousy...lousy...lousy. Unless you stay in a metropolitan area, you probably will not have service, since T-Mobile/Easyspeak do not allow you to Roam. Not to mention the fact that if I cross the border into Canada, my coverage ceases 100yds south of the border, even though T-Mobile offers service in Canada, and I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY CROSSED THE BORDER, YET! Actually, I can get service, but that involves getting the Sim Card unlocked(which I was told takes 10 days to 2 weeks, but took me 5 weeks), purchasing a Canadian T-Mobile Sim Card, having T-Mobile assign the new Sim Card, and then when returning to the US reinstalling the old Sim Card, and then having T-Mobile re-assign the old card...Oh, by the way, when you purchase time, it expires after one month, so use it..or lose it. Do yourself a favor, just don't bother. My question is: Why don't I have an option for "Sell Yours Now"? I would sell mine, and say Caveat Emptor, Caveat Emptor Maxima! I just bought a Tracfone 5180i. Far superior service, and much clearer signal.

1 out of 5 stars Customer Service and Phone Service wasted my money.......2002-03-20

I purchased this service twice and both times my cell phone, somehow, became damaged 60-days into this service. Motorola and VoiceStream both guarantee phone repairs..but unless you are a monthly-billed customer they won't send you a Phone exchange they will only allow you to mail it in (at your expense). I did this the first time and they lost my phone and after 3+-months of trying to receive my phone or a refund, I find out that customer service never verified any of my phone calls by enter the information or the problem I was having in the database.
This time I am not sending the phone to them (again this is the same phone problem as before) I am switching to another service.

I am very sorry to find out..casually..from others that this problem with the mysterious 60-day cellphone breakdown and VoiceStreams customer service is common. Unfortunatley, it is also accepted as the "way things are". Good Luck!!!
