The HR-XVC25U plays not only DVD and multiple CD formats, but DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, and SVCD as well.

For the DVD player, top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. Now you can also enjoy cutting-edge DVDs alongside an existing library of videocassettes. The unit even offers an RF output for use with older TVs that lack composite-video inputs. With S-VHS quasi playback, you'll be able to watch (in regular VHS resolution) tapes recorded in Super-VHS, normally only compatible with more expensive S-VHS machines. Advanced programming can be set for one months and eight events, and Commercial Skip search quickly skims over 30-second increments during playback to put your program back in front of you more quickly.

19 micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended-play) mode. Auto Repeat (VHS: unlimited) and repeat playback (DVD: A-B) makes this unit a perfect choice for trade shows and conventions. Other VCR features include child lock (prevents unintended viewings), index search, skip search, auto clock setting, auto timer setting, and auto tracking.

Two sets of left/right analog-audio outputs (one for each component) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Best in it's Class.......2002-11-20

For it's size and functionality this unit can't be beat. Has the vast majority of the translations, gives all lthe conjugations for the various verbs yet is small enough to fit into your back pocket, and simple to use to boot. It's biggest draw back is that it can be somewhat slow to translate. All in all I've purchased quite a few of these translators and anything close to it in functionality is twice the size. Sure beats carrying a spanish to english dictionary.

over-hyped product.......2002-11-08

This translator claims to have 4 million bi-directional words. So I assumed this would be plenty to use as a dictionary. I am reading a good book by Perez-Reverte and I was hoping this would speed up my dictionary searches. I would say on average that 1 word out of ten registers. I'm mad and I want my money back. or applied to a better product. Are you reading this, Seiko?

PRO: This is a basic translator for people that just need find one or two meanings by word, the keyboard has a good size for the size of the translator. The influebce tool is good, it give you the means of many verbs in all tenses and in three modes.
CON: English and Spanish are complex languages and many words have many meanings, also some words have idiomatic meanings, this translator give you a maximun of three meanings for some words, is some slower, take 3 seconds for some words, and the menus are some difficult to use.

PRO:This is a basic translator for people that wants just one or two meanings by word, has a good tool with the Influence function that allow find the all tenses of many verbs, in three modes. The keyboard has a good size for the size of the machine.

CON:English and Spanish are some difficult languages and some words have many meanings, this tranlator just gives you a maximun of three meannigs for some words, is slower take three seconds for find a meaning, and doesn't have a space bar for compound words.
