The progressive-scan HR-XVC37U plays not only DVD and multiple CD formats, but DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, and SVCD as well.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the HR-XVC37U stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs--and your videocassettes, too. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD or VHS picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
Composite-video, S-video, and RF (coaxial) outputs ensure compatibility with any television, and you don't have to worry about making separate connections for each component--even if you're using the RF audio/video output, both the DVD and the VCR signals will flow through a single connection.
With S-VHS quasi playback, you'll be able to watch (in regular VHS resolution) tapes recorded in Super-VHS, normally only compatible with more expensive S-VHS machines. Advanced programming can be set for 1 months and 8 events, and Pro-cision 19 micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended-play) mode. Other VCR features include child lock (prevents unintended viewings), index search, skip search, auto clock setting, auto timer setting, and auto tracking.
Two sets of left/right analog-audio outputs (1 for each component) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the DVD player's digital-audio outputs (1 each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. A front-panel set of audio/video inputs simplifies hookup with camcorders, gaming consoles, and other devices.
