Product Description
Panasonic line of Ultra-Compact Digital Palmcorder MultiCam Camcorders are pocket sized, SD-compatible camcorders that capture the same high-quality digital video as conventional sized camcorders. Their super-small dimensions make these camcorders so portable that you can bring them almost anywhere. The compact design also allows the camera to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, for extra mobility when shooting. Puts the most essential functions - record, zoom and PhotoShot - on an easy-to-use, wired remote control. It's a comfortable way to get the perfect shot even if you're crouching down low, or reaching over people's heads. This feature also makes using the camcorder easier for lefties. Quick Start button turns the camera on in 1.5 seconds enabling you to capture shots almost instantly, even when your camera is off. Unique grip and hand strap converts the camcorder grip into a carrying strap in two easy steps for extra portability, and to more conveniently capture low-angle shots. Top-Load cassette mechanism opens from the top, so you can change cassettes without having to unscrew the camcorder from the tripod. Panasonic Ultra-Compact camcorders can also be used as high-quality digital still cameras. Digital Electronic Image Stabilizer compensates for unintentional hand and camcorder movement when recording. Progressive PhotoShot Mode helps to eliminate fuzziness by digitally capturing the image data of a singular moment, and temporarily storing it in two field memories. The two images are then combined to produce a better quality picture. Cinema Mode records video in the same 16: 9 aspect ratio as a movie screen, giving your videos a dramatic, cinematic effect during playback. Zoom Mic works the same way as video zoom, to get matching audio from subjects at a distance. Color LCD lets you view your subject in full color during shooting and playback through a large, 2.5" LCD screen.

Amazon.com Product Description

It's a flip phone. No, wait, it's a messaging device with a QWERTY keyboard. Actually, with an ingenious two-way hinge, the Samsung SGH-D307 does both. Plus, with high-end features like Bluetooth, EDGE high-speed data, a speakerphone, and advanced voice recognition, you'll always want to keep this powerful tool close at hand. It's the perfect way to take advantage of Cingular's next generation voice, messaging, and data services.

Design
The D307's most prominent feature is the clever dual hinge deign that allows the phone to be used as a traditional clamshell, or as a tablet-style messaging device. Flipping the clamshell open reveals a full QWERTY keyboard, with keys that double as a dial pad. The internal 176 x 220 screen supports 262,000 colors, while a secondary monochrome screen displays essentials, such as time, battery strength, and incoming call information. Meanwhile, the D307's internal antenna means there's nothing to snag in your pocket. There's also a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets. A USB data port is provided, as well.

Calling Features
The D307's built-in address book stores your contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones (ringtones in MP3, AAC, AMR, MIDI, MFMP, SP-MIDI formats are supported) plus a vibrating alert. You can match pictures with callers to identify them, and the D307's voice recognition software supports voice commands from any user, not just a pre-programmed user's voice. Meanwhile, speech-to-text technology enables you to dictate SMS messages. A powerful speakerphone unit means you can easily talk handsfree, while Bluetooth allows you to use your favorite wireless headset.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The D307 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging, with support for sending and receiving text, picture and video messages. Instant messaging is also supported (Cingular messaging charges apply) and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3 and IMAP4 protocols. Of course, the QWERTY keyboard makes it a snap to type your messages. There's also a built-in Web browser for MEdia downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the D307, as it supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. Enjoy broadband speeds in EDGE-enabled service areas.

A number of handy tools ship with the D307, including a calendar and a voice memo application. An alarm clock, a to-do list, and a calculator with currency converter are also included. You can use the D307's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth headset accessory, or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data.

Entertainment
Java-based games are fully supported by the D307, and the phone ships with several to keep you busy on the train, plane or bus. You can also customize the phone's screensavers and backgrounds to suit your style.

Vital Statistics
The Samsung SGH-D307 weighs 4.3 ounces and measures 3.7 x 1.9 x .85 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 192 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/1800/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

What's in the Box
D307 handset, lithium-ion battery, travel charger, user's manual.

4 out of 5 stars Ring Tone.......2006-06-01

I think this is a great phone, but I have one complaint. There is not one "ring" ringtone. All of the default ringtones are cute songs and jingles. I have tried downloading a plain ring from cingular.com but can't find any. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just want a tone that alerts me to a call but doesn't make me sound like a 13 year old girl.

2 out of 5 stars I'm taking this phone back ASAP.......2006-05-26

This phone is a huge let-down. It has so many possibilities, but none of them were installed/implemented/allowed! The landscape mode (which is the best feature) doesn't let you enter new phone numbers or browse the internet. The speaker quaility is HORRIBLE--I can never hear anyone, even when I'm in a room by myself. You can't access G-mail through the internet. The Mobile E-mail program took over my phone-it's horrible-plus I use Gmail. Overall, I was really disappointed, though there were some things I liked. The text and IM features are awesome. I also loved how there wasn't a camera or a PDA. I have a camera and a PDA--this is a phone, right? I highly recommend having them show you the phone in the store and letting you play with it there before taking it home.

5 out of 5 stars D307 is the real deal, not just too good to be true........2006-05-08

I did a tremendous amount of research on this phone before i bought it and on paper it seemed exactly what i could ever want from a phone. Qwerty keypad, compact, world phone. Then i read some of the very frustrated reviewers and that put me off until i actaully bought the phone. This phone delivers 150%. Its everything you could ever want and it works perfectly and looks great. I couldn't be mroe happy with any other phone out there. This one is perfect for me.

The feature set is impressive and very easy to use. I use the calendar, todo list, note functions, and text messages via the horizontal mode probably more than i actaully ues the phone. The recption for which is consitatnly stronger than any other phone i've had in the past. The games are great and just about eveyrthing else.

If you are a young teen who wants a text messaging and picture phone this is probably not the phone for you. It wasn't meant to be especailly judging from the clean/elegant appearance. This is for people who want a down to earth pda type phone. Young professionals, college kids, etc.

4 out of 5 stars Great Phone with little problems.......2006-04-05

I did allot of research on this phone before I decided to get it, I even read the manual! This is a great phone, I love the design and I love the look. It is a little plain but when you open it up and you use it in landscape mode it is awesome to show people. Everyone keeps saying that the software is incomplete, I don't really know what they are talking about but maybe this is it, You can't do that many customizing with the phone i.e. if you want your phone to vibrate 2 then ring you can't do any of that, there is only 3 presets. That was just one example. Other than the small stuff it is a great phone. It is tuff not having a camera(I thought it wasn't going to be but sometimes it would be nice have a cam but I personally think that the qwerty keyboard out wieghs the cam. I bought a kensington bluetooth adapter with the phone and I have been able to make my own ringtones and backgrounds and put them on the phone, that has worked out great(it is tricky to figure out what format the ringtones and the graphics need to be, but some googling will fix that). Now onto the keyboard AWESOME!! I thought I was going to be tripping on all type of keys when I use but I WAS WRONG I rarely make a mistake and typing sms's is so easy, I can type 2 sms's in half the time it takes to write one on a normal mobile. Word of advice treat landscape mode and normal mode as two seperate units, the buttons are very different. There is a huge learning curve when you first get it casue of all the buttons, read the manual and mess with it allot when you first get it. I understand I am all over the place but there is allot to say. The speaker when talking to people I wish was a little louder also I wish it was a little louder when the ringtone went off. I am a motion graphic designer and I like this phone cause it is so unique I have not seen one person yet who has this phone and everyone thinks it is an awesome phone cause of the landscape mode and the great looking screen. Oh yeah maybe some of you don't want to use landscape mode well all the same functions are in the normal phone(which I like).

Pros
qwerty keyboard - AWESOME
great formfactor
great wow factor
great bluetooth
easy taking notes(use it in church)
easy typing smss
good battery life
fairly compact for what it is
I really love this phone

Cons
speaker needs to be louder
when opening sometimes the volume button is pushed and changes your volume profile
can be a bit confusing at first
not as much customization as I would like.
no camera(in the end it doesnt matter to me but some it might)
wish there wash more storage(but 5megs will do)
