T-Mobile in Los Angeles.......2007-06-07
You'll wish you hadn't gone with T-Mobile if you live in Los Angeles.. then again, I travel the country and T-Mobile has provided substandard access no matter where I am. Dropped calls are a major problem with this company and there are so many dead areas where the service just drops off between cell towers. You'll be screaming in frustration, while your friend who has a different carrier will be talking away without incident.
The first time you lose an important call and you cannot reconnect, you wish you had gone with a different provider. Just a warning.
Very disappointed with T-Mobile on all levels........2007-03-26
I first switched to T-Mobile because I heard so many good things about them, especially their customer service. Allow me to dispell the myth. Their customer service is average at the best of times and down-right rude at their worst. All though they have at times performed well on common inquiries, the moment you throw something at them they aren't ready for they get VERY defensive and extremely hard-headed.
A perfect example of this (and I have had more than one bad experience)was when my daughter mistakenly thought her battery had died when in fact it was a problem with the actual phone unit. She call CS and was talked into ordering a battery direct from T-Mobile. After 15 minutes, and a talk with me, she called back to cancel only to be told that she could not cancel the order, that it had already shipped. By-the-way, this was approx 9 pm on a Saturday. Not a flipping chance it had already shipped. After many phone calls that night, and even though it is illegal to not allow a customer to cancel a sale, they refused and shipped the battery on Monday. I know they shipped it on Monday because I checked the tracking number. We, of course, shipped it back at their expense and to their credit they did refund within a reasonable amount of time. Hense the "2" rating instead of a "1".
One other issue with T-mobile is the service area. Turns out I live in a small dead-zone in Orange County California. I can live with that because I really do not use the cell at home. But on a train trip to Oregon we hit SO many dead areas it wasn't funny. At one spot, where the train was stuck waiting for a freight train to pass I had no service but was able to borrow a fellow passenger's Cingular cell, which was getting 4 bars. I was always under the impression that Cingular and T-Mobile shared the same cells but obviously not in Oregon.
So, when my term is up you can bet I'm switching away from T-Mobile. Their rates aren't bad but to me it's just not worth the hassle.
Good phone and good service.......2006-09-02
I am happy with both the phone and the service but I don;t think the promotion was straightforward. I was lead to believe by the promotion that the contract was for 6 months not 2 years. Also, there was supposed to be a rebate of $50 for the phone but no paperwork to get the rebate came with the shipment.
Thoughts on Cell Phones and Service.......2006-06-12
- I haven't had any major issues with phone coverage in Los Angeles, it has gotten better in fact and areas where the signal was low before, it is better now.
- I bought my phone with several [...], and the one complaint I did have was that the seller (not TMobile) didn't honor the [...], which made me mad, but I don't hold that against TMobile.
- Customer service has been easy to talk to, and I haven't ever had any problems getting through to them.
- THIS IS IMPORTANT - You have a few days after you recieve your phone and new service plan to cancel if everything isn't exactly what the company says it is on the contract. Even through it looks like garbage, READ THE CONTRACT. Everything is spelled out exactly as it's going to be, and you can cancel right away if something is different than what you were promised. I did this with another plan and phone (not Tmobile) after the off-peak hours were different than what was promised. I can't emphasis this enough...protect yourself, and don't get stuck with fees you don't want to pay. Good luck!
Stay Away From T-Mobile.......2006-05-11
A have recently filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against T-Mobile. My story (real quick): I have a sidekick 2 with insurance on my phone. One day I started having problems with the phone. It just stopped making calls. I soon started to get an error message on the phone saying there was hardware problems and I needed to take it in. There was no physical damage to the phone. When I called T-mobile they informed me that there would be a free replacement since I did no damage to the phone and the phone was insured. I sent the phone back and 1 month later they had charged me for the phone. I called in to ask them why there was a charge and they tried to tell me the screen was cracked in half. Imagine my outrage. Countless phone calls to customer service and their management got me no where with the company. One of them even accused me of lying. As soon as I have the money to pay off my contract I am getting out of T-Mobile.
