Amazon.com Product Description
RCA's RC5240P DVD player is excellent fuel for your digital media desires. It plays not only DVD-videos, but also audio CDs, CD-R/CD-RW, video CDs, and even MP3-encoded CDs so you can listen for many hours at a time.
Component- and S-video outputs offer clearer, sharper pictures (with compatible TVs) than standard composite-video, and even with a standard connection, you'll enjoy 720 pixels per horizontal line with your favorite DVDs--more than twice the definition of standard VHS.
Enjoy convenient dynamic-range compression (which quiets loud explosions and effectively increases the dialogue level) with Dolby Digital-encoded programs--that's the lion's share of all DVDs--and an optical digital-audio output will transmit true 5.1-channel surround sound to your Dolby Digital-decoding surround receiver.
Black-level adjustment lets you tailor the player's image to your viewing environment, deepening the blacks for higher contrast in nighttime or theaterlike environments.
Playback features include multiple repeat and programming functions, multi-language/subtitle capability, parental controls, and multi-angle viewing (with compatible discs). A DVD/TV remote control is included with this player.
RCA provides a 90-day labor and one-year parts warranty.

certainly is indestructable.......2006-07-08
i have dropped this phone too many times to count, stepped on it, jumped in a pool with it in my pocket- it just keeps on tickin. 3 years old and it has a bit of a charging issue (not like the other review- i would say that is rare or impossible) but that you have to situate the phone on the charger just right to get it to charge. back in the day this was a great phone- today, well..
pros-
-indestructable!
-well designed- nice feeling buttons, good navigation, etc
-cheap
cons-
- no fancy nonsense (i dont like that stuff anyways)
- charging is tricky after a year or two
- there is a little button on the outside of this phone that, when pressed, will turn your phone on silent. you'd think thatd be conveinent but actually it happens alot in your pocket when you are unaware of it and you end up missing your calls. pull it out with pliers if you are smart.
i used a Siemens s66 for a while with all the bells and whistles and it was so poorly designed I gladly went back to this one. a good buy.
Why I am looking for another phone to replace this one..........2006-06-12
I have been with Verizon for over six years now and have owned several phones in that time. I got this phone on a promotional deal that they had about a year ago. I liked it because it was a bare-bones sort of phone but had the features that I wanted--basically what others have said. I will say that overall the phone has performed. HOWEVER--and this is a BIG HOWEVER--the phone has one HUGE problem: the recharge jack. I have in just ONE YEAR had to take this phone back to Verizon no less than three times. The first two times it happened I was under warranty. The last time it happened (a month ago) I was in California (I live on the east coast) and had to fork over $50 for the priviledge of getting yet another one of these phones. Hopefully, this last one will last until my current plan ends (and I can get a new phone) in February, 2007. I am not hopeful.
The issue is that the jack has a metal jacket inside of it that loosens over time. If this metal jacket falls out or comes unlodged from the minute drop of glue that holds it in place, then you are out of luck. You are incapable of recharging it. The second time this happened I ended up loosing MY COMPLETE phone book--gone, poof! Even the Verizon folks could not recharge it. Important point: I have been to at least three different Verizon stores including one "mom and pop" store (independent retailer as Verizon likes to call them--imho, if it has a Verizon sign on the front of the store THEN IT IS A VERIZON STORE!!! but I digress...). IN EACH VERIZON LOCATION THEY ALL REPORTED THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL OF THESE PHONES RETURNED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM!!!
Other problems with this phone (outside of the jack issue): often will not ring even though phone is on, has 6 bars, good signal and ringer is on high--still does not ring (can't figure this one out...), no games (not a biggie for me but...), hard to see screen, miniscule selection of wallpaper and lousy ring tone selection (but good for Verizon--you have to pay $3 per ringtone to get something more than an annoying 'beep beep.')
My take home message: these particular LG phones have a weak design flaw at the recharge jack. My next phone will have a simple, single "old fashioned" cylindrical shaped jack. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!!!!
A Tank.......2006-03-02
This phone should not be titled the VX4400, it should be renamed simply "chuck norris." This phone is perfect for anyone who likes to drop their cell, throw their cell, get their cell wet ect. It will not stop working. Some days it seems that this phone is a terminator hybrid, it simply just will not quit.
Throughout my usage of the VX4400 it has been thrown into a cinderblock wall, left outside in a muddy field for 2 weeks straight (rain and all), dropped 10 feet down into a fresh water lake (twice) and yet it works like a charm.
Disadvantages: There are no fancy wing-dings on this phone. No camera, no Bluetooth ect. This is for someone who wants a color flip phone that is indestructible!
