I've had this product for almost 4 months now (so I can't comment on long-term durability) BUT so far this has been a great external hard drive. It's fast and easy setup and is *definitely* durable. I've already chucked it down stairs, mashed it around in my luggage, and toted it on week-long hikes where it had many chances to get beaten around. Not a single problem so far! I bought this product specifically because my work causes me to travel all over the globe (and ALL my electronics get beaten up, it's inevitable!) and this one is living up to its "rugged" reputation. In fact, I like it so much my best friend also bought this for his work and he's loved it too.

I've only experienced one minor issue in all the times I've used it: after plugging in the product my computer gave a pop-up notification that I had maxed out the power on my USB hub. Easily solved, once I followed directions and reset the USB it worked immediately. The external hard drive also comes with a power adapter to avoid this problem. So far it's only happened about 3 or 4 times. Even with the minor glitch I'm giving it 5 stars.

Bought this drive to act as a "briefcase". Works great and performs better than other drives.
