Product Description
This multi-function player reads DVD-video discs, CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs - even those containing MP3-encoded material! Change up to four discs while the fifth is playing. Advanced digital circuitry includes 10-bit video and 24-bit/96 kHz audio D/A converters. It's capable of Dolby Digital and DTS "digital out" too. Component, S-, and composite video outputs complement analog and digital audio outputs. Don't forget about the on-screen menu, parental lock, and full remote control.

Customer Reviews:
An excellent purchase.......2006-07-10
This is a great machine for a fine price. Ubuntu Linux 6.10 installed out of the box on it. The large screen is clear and bright, the amount of RAM is double that in other similarly priced laptops, the processor is speedy and never gets too hot, regardless of the strain I put on it, the audio is perfectly fine and the 3D, while not top of the line, is still quite good. Toshiba has made an excellent product for a very fair price. The next time I need a system, I will see if Toshiba offers a good product before checking out others.
The only thing I would have preferred is if having Windows pre-installed was not mandatory; I could either have saved a bit of money or bought a bit more stuff for my machine.

The M65-S9092 has many great things going for it. From it's 1GB of RAM to the Pentium M 760 processor, you know it's going to be responsive. The 100GB hard drive isn't huge, but on a laptop, it's not too shabby. The 128MB ATI Radeon x600SE video was a nice feature as was the secondary audio processor. These two help free up clock cycles in a very noticable way. It's a dual-layer multiformat DVD writer that earns some kudos as well. You put this together with the huge 17.1" screen and the full sided keyboard and you wind up with a "must have". I've conditioned the battery and reduced the massive screen's brightness at night to stretch the full 3.3 hours out of it. It's wireless antenna is able to pick up marginal signals and connect like a champ. The icing on the cake for me is the inclusion of a multi format media card right in the front.
Yes, the Core-Duo processors are out there. Yes, there are larger hard drives. Yes, this is a touchpad only pointing device. Yes it's large and heavy-ish.
It's also a great computer. It's not a media station, it's not a video editing studio and it's not a back-pocket PC. It is what it is, and that would be great.
works for me.......2006-02-09
I purchased this laptop as a desktop replacement for my aging PC. I also wanted some portability (one room to another, an occasional trip). It's worked great in the 1.5 months I've had it. Has all the bells and whistles I needed. I was not looking for an entertainment center. A computer to edit photos; some video; watch a movie, perhaps, if I was on the road.
I have two gripes, though. First, the right shift key is half sized. I could have gone without the second set of arrow keys (this laptop has the numeric keypad) for a fatter right shift key. Second, the headphone outlet is in the front of the computer so when I was using watching a movie on that rare flight, I had to be mindful of where the headset was plugged in.
This may not be the computer for you if you want an entertainment center, but it will definitely satisfy you if you use applications such as Office or use Macromedia and Adobe multimedia software, and you want all that in a desktop replacement.
I don't understand the point of this computer..........2006-02-04
I bought this at bestbuy and then took it back. I was looking for something to use as a media center and hook up to my stereo/plasma tv.
Without typing all night, here are a few of the reasons I was so disappointed with it:
No TV tuner.
No audio out other than a headphone jack.
No digital video out.
Couldn't get the display to show properly on my new Pioneer Plasma 42"...yet my sony laptop works fine with it...and it's not billed as a media center.
In short, if you are looking for a laptop, I don't know why you would buy this HUGE piece of machinery. If you are looking for a media center, this one doesn't have the connectivity.
