Amazon.com Product Description
DVD-audio offers the 192kHz/24-bit format for the highest fidelity consumers have ever experienced. To make its DVD player compatible with high quality audio systems, JVC developed a new version of its 1-bit P.E.M. D/D (Pulse Edge Modulation Differential-Linearity-Errorless D/A) converter. This converter is touted by media reviewers and audiophiles as one of the most accurate and musical 1-bit D/A converters available. An improved noise shaper (VANS) is compatible with DVD's superfidelity format. As a result, the XV-D723 boasts an extra-wide 108 dB dynamic range.

The JVC DVD player's picture quality is also exceptional. Pictures on DVDs are normally recorded in 24 frame-per-second format, as on film. When they are played back on a conventional interlaced screen, images can flicker or blur. But JVC's direct progressive scan turns the 24 fps format directly into the 60 fps format for display on TV with no intervening steps. The result is high-resolution images that are stable and sharp.

Moreover, the high-speed 54 MHz video D/A converter oversamples the progressive scan pictures to ensure truer-to-the-original images with minimum loss. The VFP (Video Fine Processor) enables balanced sharpness and noise-reduction effects. And component-video outputs deliver the most accurate colors and optimum balance.

In terms of versatility, the XV-D723 comes complete with Dolby Digital/DTS decoders for compatibility with the latest home theater sound systems. Complete the system with a 5.1-channel speaker system and a receiver setup, and the best performance in home theater is yours.

A user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) eases operations with onscreen setting and adjustment. The Digest, Zoom, Angle, and Strobe functions make the XV-D723 fun to use. A multibrand remote control with shuttle dial lets you operate TVs from other makers, as well as from JVC.

Finally, the power supply, digital, and analog sections are physically separated throughout to minimize interference and degradation of both audio and video signals.

The player comes with a remote control, audio-video cables, S-video cables, and is covered by a warranty of one-year on parts and 90 days on labor.

    Amazon.com Product Description

The HP Pavilion s7310n Slimline desktop PC gives you all the power of a fully loaded home/office desktop in a sleek, silvery gray chassis that's one-third the size of a traditional PC tower, enabling you to place it unobtrusively anywhere--from your office to entertainment center to kitchen. It's a great choice for everything from working on your family's finances to storing and playing an extensive multimedia library (including photos, home video from your camcorder, and all your music). It features a large 160 GB hard drive, 512 MB of installed RAM (2 GB max), 1.5 GHz Intel Celeron M processor 370, LightScribe dual layer DVD burner (also compatible with writing CDs), multi-format memory card reader, a wide variety of connectivity options (including both USB 2.0 and FireWire), and Windows XP Home Edition.

    The Basics

  • Hard Drive: The 160 GB hard drive (7200 RPM) is very large in size compared to other budge-conscious, family-oriented desktop PCs. It provides a good size for a wide range of software applications and a generously sized digital audio library as well as room enough for editing digital home video.
  • Processor: The Intel Celeron M Processor 370 is traditionally designed specifically for mobile computing, but the 370 enables the SlimLine s7310n to keep cool even when multitasking. The 1.5 GHz speed resides near the very top of the spectrum for this processor (as of January 200). It also features a 400 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and large 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
  • Memory: The 512 MB of installed RAM (PC3200, 2 x 256 MB) is a good start for running office productivity and audio software, but you'll want to take advantage of the ultra-roomy 2 GB of total RAM capacity (2 x 1 GB) for such multimedia needs as video editing and immersive 3D gaming.
  • CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the s7310n's multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 4x DVD-R DL Write Once, 2.4x DVD+R DL Write Once, 16x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, and 40x CD-ROM speeds. It also comes with a second DVD-ROM optical drive, with 16x read speed. It also comes with an extra DVD-ROM drive for disc playback only.

This LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art . The m7250n also comes with a second optical drive--a 16x DVD-ROM.

  • Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with an HP multimedia keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Graphics and Sound
Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 128 MB of shared video memory. This desktop also features the integrated Intel High Definition audio chip (Azalia), featuring THX certification and 8 channels for full Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1 surround sound with Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

    Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, the s7310n has one PCI slot (occupied), one 5.25-inch external bay (occupied), and one internal 3.5-inch bay (occupied). It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors:

  • 5 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players (1 in front, 4 in rear)
  • 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
  • 2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
  • 1 VGA monitor port
  • 9-in-1 media card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, and XD Picture Card
  • 1 headphone
  • 1 microphone
  • 1 line-in
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).

    Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web. It also comes preloaded with Microsoft Works 8.0 (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents), HP Image Zone Plus, Symantec Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition (with 60 days of LiveUpdate), Encarta Encyclopedia 2005, Quicken New User Edition 2005, Microsoft Money 2005, Sonic DigitalMedia Plus, Sonic MyDVD Plus, WinDVD 5 Player Basic, Google Toolbar, and PC Doctor.

The included HP Image Zone Plus photo and imaging software makes it easy to organize, edit, share, print, protect, and store your photos and video clips. Organize and find your photos easily by timeline, keywords, and/or location using the unique photo-globe mapping tool. Remove red eye and fix other common problems. Share your photos quickly via e-mails that include thumbnails with links to the full-sized images--without downloading time-consuming attachments.
