Amazon.com Product Description
Say goodbye to monotonous travel time, say hello to jWIN's slender JD-VD753 portable DVD player, which features an 8.4-inch widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) LCD designed to match the image dimensions of your favorite movies. It plays DVD-Video (both NTSC and PAL-formatted discs), audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded music discs. You can even enjoy an onscreen slideshow of your cherished digital photos from recordable CDs filled with JPEG image files, including Kodak Picture CDs, which offer greater viewing flexibility. The player comes with audio/video output jacks, letting you use it in the home as a high-quality video source device using the supplied AV cables.

If you've got a high-definition or HD-ready TV, you're in luck: the player even provides progressive-scan video outputs optimized for high-res sets. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

A pair of minijack stereo headphone outputs makes the player well suited to backseat use by the kids, or for simply watching discs or listening to music with a companion. (Headphones are not included.) The JD-VD753 comes with an AC/DC power adapter to conserve batteries during indoor use.

What's in the Box
DVD player, a remote control, a remote battery, audio/video hookup cables, an AC/DC power adapter, and a user's manual.

<small><b>Take a closer look at the t809's functions.</b></small></td></tr></table> <B>Design</B>
The t809's sliding design hides the phone's number pad under the display until you need to make a call. The massive, 240 x 320 display supports up to 262,000 colors -- plenty of resolution and color depth for your videos and photos. A five-way center control button is positioned below the display, as are shortcut and selection keys. The phone's 1.3 megapixel camera is housed on the top of the phone and it swivels to face in or out. USB data and charging ports are located on the phone's bottom edge. There's also a connector for a stereo 2.5 mm headset on the left side, while the microSD slot resides on the right.

<B>Calling Features</B>
With 70 MB of internal memory, the t809 is designed to hold all the contacts, phone numbers and addresses you can throw at it. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls, and in addition to a vibrating alert, the t809 supports polyphonic ringtones and MP3-based music ringtones. You can also download additional MP3 music ringtones from T-Mobile's t-zones service. A speakerphone lets you talk hands-free while you're doing other things, and picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. Like all T-Mobile phones, the t809 also supports voicemail, caller ID, conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call hold, built-in paging, and access to T-Mobile's 411 service. Lastly, the phone's Bluetooth connectivity means that your favorite Bluetooth headset is fully compatible.

<B>Messaging, Internet, and Tools</B>
The t809 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, video, graphics and sound via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Messaging clients for AOL, Yahoo!, and ICQ are included.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the t809, too. It supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with a T-Mobile data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. There's also a built-in browser for t-zones downloads and mobile Web browsing. T-Mobile's t-zones service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.

A number of handy productivity tools are bundled with the t809 including a voice memo recorder, an alarm clock, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and a to-do list.

<B>Imaging and Entertainment</B>
The t809's built-in 1.3 megapixel camera captures stills and video to the phone's internal memory, or to an optional microSD memory card. The camera captures video at 352 x 288 resolution, and it features white balance and brightness controls. Meanwhile, the phone's powerful still camera sports a self-timer, a multi-shot mode, a night mode, brightness and white balance controls, ISO controls, and spot metering.

Into music? You're in luck with the t809. Store your favorite MP3-based music on the t809 and listen whenever the feeling strikes you on the built-in stereo speakers. Simply upload the songs from your PC via the phone's USB interface (the phone supports USB mass storage mode), then organize and play your songs with the t809's music management software. And when you want to jam out in private you can hook up a stereo headset. Lastly, if you want to dress up the t809, picture effects, custom screensavers, backgrounds, and themes can be set to fit your personality.

Java support is built into the t809, making it a powerful gaming companion. Games are downloadable via the t-zones service or you can use the handset's USB data connection to load more games and files onto the phone.

<B>Vital Statistics</B>
The Samsung SGH-t809 weighs 3.35 ounces and measures 3.9 x 2.0 x 0.58 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.3 hours of digital talk time, and up to 130 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

1 out of 5 stars would not recommend.......2007-06-01

i bought this phone for less than 2 months then the screen stopped working-blank screen, nothing would appear, however the phone still work. Had it sent in to fix but was not cover under warranty and it would cost me about $120 to fix it. I do not recommend this product because of this and its lousy warranty. My friend who has the same cell phone is also having the same problem.

3 out of 5 stars Phone is OKAY, but for Dust.......2007-04-23

Hi,
I had this phone for around a year. What I hated in this phone is that the dust gets accumulated beneath the LCD screen. The dust comes in via a small hole in the rotating camera. i checked this in many forums and almost everyone owning a t809 has this problem.

i had to perform a mini-surgery (take out the lcd screen with a knife, clean it and stick it back).
In the process, I did the following damages...
a. a small scratch in the main screen beneath it.
b. There are 4 stickers to hold the outer screen. in the process of cleaning one of them was damaged.
Wondering how long that will hold, meanwhile my search for next phone is on...

hope this helps.
Thanks,
Gopi

5 out of 5 stars I love this phone!!.......2007-04-06

I have had this phone for over a year now and I still love it. I did a lot of research on phones before I bought it. I don't have a home phone so the t809 serves as my one and only and I couldn't be happier with it. Every phone has its give and takes, but for the $150 I paid for it I think it is awesome. I bought it because I get so annoyed by my ring tones that I have to change them all the time and I don't want to pay to download them. This phone hooks right up to my computer with USB so I can use my own MP3's as rings. The screen quality is amazing. I put my own photographs as my background and the look gorgeous! I put a music video on my phone and showed it to someone with a Razr and they were impressed by the picture quality. It seems like T-mobile might not be selling this phone anymore and I can't understand why. They are selling the Samsung t629 myFaves phone which my boyfriend bought because he liked my phone so much. I am much less impressed with the t629. Its screen is not anywhere as nice as the t809 and the t629 doesn't hook up to the computer. The t629 also seems flimsy which is why I have never wanted a Razr. I was not interested in this phone for taking photos. I could care less if my phone takes photos, but I think the t809 takes decent ones. It lets you zoom in and out and the lens flips around. You can also edit the photos on the phone adding special effects and upping the contrast. I used it to take photos at a concert and they came out pretty cool.

There are a few things that Samsung could work on to make this phone perfect. Number one is sound quality. I have a hard time hearing people on the phone sometimes because the ear speaker is located to one side of the top and unless your ear is right on it it's difficult to hear. I usually talk to everyone on speaker phone. The speaker phone is great and I don't think the people I am talking to can hear any difference in my voice so it must not have that annoying speaker phone sound that I hear with other phones. The other sound issue is the MP3s. They are not MP3 quality sound so this phone does not replace your MP3 player. I think the sound is decent, but it could be improved. Lastly the battery life isn't great. My phone is often on its last leg, but I got a free car charger with it and when I remember to plug it in before bed it will last me a few days without needing to be recharged. Those are the only things I can see needing improvement and they don't bother me all that much.

If MP3 quality sound and long battery life are important to you I would not recommend this phone. If you want a phone that you can fully customize with your own photos and mp3s that doesn't cost and arm and a leg than this is the phone for you. I am so happy I got it and I haven't seen any phones come out in the last year that I think would be as perfect for me as this one is.

5 out of 5 stars Upgrade T809 Firmware to D820 Firmware.......2007-03-27

Last year I upgraded the firmwire in my T809 to D820 firmware. Difference is night and day. D820 is better than T809 in almost everything. D820 has superior usability. I even downloaded third-party java software such as Google Maps and Opera Mini, with no extra cost. I no longer use the crappy browser that came with T809. Opera Mini is da browser.

T809 with T809 firmware: 3.5 stars.
T809 with D820 firmware: 5 stars.

Just upgrade to D820 firmware, you wont regret it.

2 out of 5 stars Wont recoomend it.......2007-03-13

This is the worst cell phone I ever bought.... battery does not even last 1 day...voice quality sucks...only good thing is camera....
