4 out of 5 stars Well worth the cheap price.......2007-06-06

I got this item from EBay a few days ago to replace a CP Technologies Enclosure that was broken. I initially had some issues with it and I even feared that it had fried a couple of my old HDs. After working with it all night, I gave up and was planning to go to the store the next day to get another CP Technologies enclosure that was more expensive, but my past experience with it showed that it worked flawlessly.

I contacted the EBay seller and she gave me instructions to get it working properly, the main thing that I failed to do was that I had to set the HD to MASTER and according to the seller she said I may have to wait 60 seconds until the drive is fully spinning BEFORE plugging it in to the USB port. With the CP Technologies drive, it did not matter what the jumper setting was or how long the drive was spinning, so that was a mistake on my part as I assumed this enclosure would be the same way. After I followed her instructions, the enclosure worked properly, and better yet the drives that I feared were ruined were fine. The only thing that I occasionally forget is to set the jumper to MASTER, or otherwise the drive wouldn't work. Others may find that they have to play around with the jumper settings to get one that works for them.

For the cheap price this enclosure is worth every penny. I still think the CP Technologies one is better, but you can't beat the price that this one is offered at. If you want a cheap solution this is the way to go.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Product. Easy to assemble........2007-05-10

It took me all of 3 minutes to put this unit together. I can't see how others were having such issues with assembling them. I don't have little hands or anything odd that gave me any advantage. Yes the plastic end is a little cheap but look at the cost of it. This case disapates the heat very well. I wouldn't suggest using this as a mobile unit because I don't think it can handle that kind of abuse. Since that was not the type of enclosure I was looking for this enclosure fit the bill perfectly. I have two other enclosures from Sabrent for 2.5 drives and they work great. Gotta say I am getting the most bang for my buck with them.

4 out of 5 stars Quick Install, Easy Use.......2007-03-16

It took me 10 minutes, from the time the product arrived until I was using it. It was very easy to install my 80GB HD into this unit. I even used the supplied screws to hold the HD inside the case! My only hang-up was in determining what screws went where. It appeared that the company sent two sets of different sized screws. I do not use this HD for all-time use though. Therefore, I am not a good barometer for determining whether it has good heat displacement characteristics.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best!.......2007-03-09

I admit that I got this case because it was inexpensive. But upon getting it I soon realized that it was just cheap. Yes there is a difference. The ends of the case do not want to stay on and I need to use a binder to hold the thing together. Other than that this drive has worked fine, it seems a little slow but I'm using it over a USB 1.0 port, so that is my fault. Overall I have been satisfied with this drive for the price. The fact that it does not want to stay in one piece is an inconvenience but nothing more. So it's a good drive, but I would recommend spending a little more for a nicer one.

5 out of 5 stars external drive case.......2007-03-09

Lightweight and easily installed. I had the drive installed inside of five minutes. Stands on edge and is placed out of the way. Good product and good price.
