Audiovox's affordable D1530 features a 5.8-inch LCD widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) and compatibility with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs. Take it on the plane, on the bus, or even in the car for the kids--a supplied adapter lets you power the unit right from a dashboard cigarette lighter. It also includes a slim, card-sized full-function remote control for hassle-free operation in tight quarters.

Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. Composite-video and stereo analog-audio inputs and outputs let you hook up additional AV gear for viewing through the D1530. All audio and video inputs and outputs are of the minijack .125-inch size, so compatible adapter cables are required (one stereo analog audio and one composite-video cable are supplied).

S-video and composite-video outputs simplify hookup with your home TV. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: Q-Surround Sound simulates surround sound through two speakers or headphones. Playback options include frame-by -frame slow motion, zoom (image magnification and reduction), multiple angle viewing (with applicable discs), and 20-track programmable sequencing.

The supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to three hours of playback (power consumption depends on the operations of the player, such as screen brightness, volume level, etc). Headphones are not included.

I have used this 2.5" adapter many times on the very small hard drives on notebooks that are 15 inches & smaller. This enclosure works great when copying info from one hard drive to another. This enclosure works great on those tiny hard drives on those 12" notebooks too. No complaints at all.

Two words - it died.......2007-01-16

It was quite an opportune time for Amazon to ask me to review this item, because it just died on me :)

After a few weeks of great use, one day on plugging in I got a "device not recognized" error on plugging in, and that's where it has stayed. Luckily the hard disk is fine, I tested it in another enclosure.

I don't see any obvious problems (like burnt circuitry), so have no idea what happened. I am just going to write off the $12+, and buy a different brand and hopefully better luck.

This is basically a metal sleeve that slides over the drive. The main part is aluminum and the end caps are plastic. One end cap is removed and attaches to the pins on the drive and is then slid back into the sleeve. The screws that hold it together are extremely small and require nimble fingures. There also a red/green LED to display the device's status.

The unit comes with a USB cable, driver CD, vinyl carrying sleeve, and a manual. There is no AC adapter, all power comes from the USB port. To prevent overloads the USB adapter has two plugs on one end so power can be drawn from two seperate ports. This may be irritating if you have lots of USB devices or your USB ports are far apart like on my laptop. However so far I have not had any problems using just one port. Lastly the directions are minimal and badly translated. If your not tech-savvy you may want to look for a product with better documentation.

I've only had this enclosure for a couple of days, however I am reasonably satisfied. I think it does what it was designed to do and nothing more, which is about all you can expect for $9.00. If you plan on using this drive occasionally to do backups or just move data between drives I think it's a good deal. If you want to use it more frequently it may do the job but I can't really say for sure. It might be worth shelling out a few extra dollars in that case.
