The built-in camera and microphone keep you connected to family and friends by allowing you to easily chat or send video mail. Other features include a 1.86 GHz Intel Centrino Pentium M processor, generous 100 GB hard drive, 1 GB of installed RAM (2 GB maximum), dual-layer, multi-format DVD/CD burner, multiformat Memory Stick slot, a wide assortment of pre-loaded software titles (including Sony multimedia applications), and Windows XP Professional Edition operating system.

The Basics

Hard Drive: This performance-driven notebook is loaded with a 100 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, which offers higher speed transfer of data--akin to Firewire and USB 2.0--than typical ATA hard drives. It's larger than average (which is typically 60 GB) and offers a fast 5400 RPM speed. It offers more than enough capacity for storing documents and productivity software for road warriors. You'll also be able to store hundreds of hours of digital audio.

Processor: The Intel Centrino Pentium M 750 processor is designed specifically for mobile computing, offering a balanced level of mobile-optimized processor technology, good mobile performance, and exceptional value. It features a Deep Sleep state, which helps enable longer battery life by minimizing the power consumption of the processor during brief periods of inactivity. The 1.86 GHz speed is in the upper-middle of the speed spectrum for this processor (as of autumn, 2005), and it also offers a fast 533 MHz front-side bus (FSB) speed and a large 2 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)

Memory: The 1 GB of built-in memory (PC4200, DDR2 SDRAM, 2 x 512 MB) is a very good start for power users, and it offers a top-of-class 533 MHz speed. It has two memory slots, enabling you to add a maximum of 2 GB to handle graphics-intensive presentations and multiple open business productivity applications.

CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer DVD+R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. For DVD-R/RW discs, it has a 8x write/6x rewrite speed, while for DVD+R/RW discs it has a 8x write/8x rewrite speed. For double-layer DVD+R, it has a 4x write speed. For CDs, it has a 24x write/24x rewrite speed. It also offers an 8x DVD-ROM read speed.

The 14.1-inch XBRITE-ECO LCD has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels--perfect for watching movies in their intended 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 128 MB of shared video memory. This colorful VAIO is way too cool ! It is very slim and lightweight, while providing the processing and storage power you need for multimedia. The built-in webcam is a nice bonus. I purchased this Sony VAIO from J & R Music and Computer World and it contains NO CDs at all !!! its written in the Product Description that it Includes:
lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, Microsoft Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2, Photoshop Album Starter Edition, WinDVD, Works 8. 5 (60-day trial), Roxio DigitalMedia SE, Norton Internet Security (60-day subscription) & more.
I only recieved (lithium-ion battery, AC adapter) and the rest is only installed!!!
when I contacted them they said:
((Computer manufacturer's are no longer including CD reboot disk for installed software. They recommend that you burn a copy of your hard drive.))... this is really unacceptable... they should update the product description before letting people pay and purchase for something that is incomplete!!! I paid $1400 and if anything happened to my laptob or even if I simply wanted to format the hard drive I will lose my laptop.. if anyone have any advice please contact me.. and please please DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM (J & R Music and Computer World) they could easily give me some help but they didn't!!!

O VAIO VGN-FJ270P/B 14" ? perfeito! ? extremamente leve e r?pido. Apesar de ter somente 14" e ser bastante compacto, d? a impress?o de que as imagens s?o enormes. E, mesmo n?o sendo denterminante para a compra, a c?mera na parte superior da tela deixa o laptop ainda mais charmoso.
