Impressive speed. Great, but not glitch free..........2006-05-19

I installed this upgrade on an aging Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 2001 733 MHZ, with 1.5GIG RAM.
INSTALLATION:
Installation is not pain free, it's not like installing RAM. The processor card has tricky screws and has to fit and rest perfectly on connectors, if not the Mac will not power up. Scary, really scary. Better leave the installation to a pro-service if you are not experienced.
PERFORMACE IMPROVEMENT:
Overall system speed and performancel improved by 200%. Most applications benefited greatly. Safari web surfing is instantly fast. When I installed I was running Panther, no problems experienced.
THE GLITCHES:
Then I made the move to Tiger and that's when glitches began, mostly in Photoshop, my main working application. I stated getting eventual episodes of the SBBOD (spinning beach ball of death) that never before happenned in Panther.
I've also experineced some episodes of the Mac powering up without video signal. After resetting the PRAM this was corrected, but seldom happpened before installing the upgrade.
Inspite of these cons, I do recommend this upgrade If you're not planning on buying a new G5 or MacPro system just yet.
