Processor: Combining strong performance with efficient usage of power, the 2.2 GHz AMD Turion 64 ML-40 is uniquely optimized to power today's thinnest notebooks. It's also built for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, which will require a processor with significant power. It includes such AMD technology features as HyperTransport (which increases the communication between integrated circuits), PowerNow! (which enables longer battery life and reduced heat generation), and Enhanced Virus Protection (which works with Windows XP Service Pack 2 to better withstand attacks from certain classes of viruses). It also features a 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)

Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (PC2700, 333 MHz, 2 x 1 GB) maxes out the RAM capacity for this notebook (which is a rarity from a pre-built PC), which enables you to enjoy immersive 3D gaming, edit video, and prepare multimedia-intensive presentations right out of the box.

The 17-inch WXGA+ high-definition BrightView widescreen (1440 x 900 resolution) provides a 45 percent larger picture for DVD movies than a 15-inch screen. It delivers 128 MB of dedicated video RAM (separate with the system memory). This notebook also includes the HP ExpressCard Analog TV Tuner kit, which turns your notebook PC into a complete digital video recorder solution. Watch, pause, rewind and record live TV, as well as schedule recordings for TV shows in advance. Control it from up to 26 feet away with the included Media Center Edition Remote.

Solid workhorse with all the bells and whistles........2007-05-23

I own a publishing/editorial services business, so I need a rock-solid computer as my primary tool for making a living. This one has served me well now for a year or more. Not even a tiny problem. Great wide screen, and more features than I can even use (still haven't used the TV recording feature). I could wish for a bit more battery life, but I don't use battery that much. This model may not be current, but I see the price has dropped accordingly....down about $600 since I bought mine. At current prices, I'm tempted to get another!
