Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect.......2006-04-06

The idea of having a digital center which can be accessed (and played) from any room of the house, with no wires and great sound performance has arrived. This is a great product, its easy and very fast to set up (for dummies, even). I have a laptop pc (Toshiba satellite, 2GH PIVm, 512 RAM) and the communication between the two works great through the ethernet cable (no WIFI so no test there).
The remote control is awesomme. It lets you do everything from it. Wish the other one was like the main one. The station remote control is a bit useless since you can't see what you are doing (if you are far from the station) The good thing is you can use the main remote control with both the station and the central unit.
For being the first product like this on the market is a very good attempt... you can see they worked most of the major flaws they would have tripped over if they had developed it quickly or sloppy...

...but now, what they didn't do and wish they had, so the product would have been absolutely perfect.

1. When broadcasting you can't select the next song to be played. Broadcasting plays continously unit the current playlist is over... you can't even skip to the next song, you must wait unitl it's over if you want to listen to the next song and maintain the broadcasting. Of course, you can always stop (by pressing the stop button) choose the next song and begin broadcasting again, but that brings in a 10 second delay of silence until music begins poping out of the center and station units... which is not cool if in the middle of a party. MAJOR constraint.

2. Stations should hace a regular (composite) line out, in order to hook stations to an amplifier or bigger speakers... or increase the station's speaker power.

3. Should be able to broadcast the cd being played on the center unit.

4. Faster menu navigation would be greatly appreciated. IPOD solved this smartly with its navigation solution. Wish Philips had copied it.

5. The display flickers a bit.. only had the system for a week... I worry the display doesn't last long...

6. The speakers of the central unit must be removable. Wireless conectivity with the central unit would fit with the product whole idea, and would make the whole product incredibly more atractive.

7. I would have traded the ethernet connection with the PC for a USB 2.0 or Firewire (even better).. so, laptops with no WIFI can have its ethernet free for internet.

8. Wish it accessed the internet directly for CDDB information.

Other than these 8 points, the system works great... The "follow me" works perfectly. The transmission has never failed and it seems to cover a great area.

Hope the guys in R&D at Philips take these comments anduse for next generation wireless music centers.
