Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Good for the price.......2006-04-30

THis laptop is a great price... EVERY feature is included that you can need. Firewire, SD cards, 64bit technology.

THE NX6125 is the model number but the product codes P/C come in many different flavors. They are important because there are many variations of the NX6125. If you go to hp.com you will see the differences. I have the PZ222.

I do not have the standard VGA screen. i have the upgraded monitor. My AMD TURION is only 1.8 GHZ other models go up to 2.2 GHZ.

The wireless card a BroadLink... very good, reliability. In the network at work, I get good speed and response. The Desktop computers using cheapy PCI Linksys cards or Freebies from the Local Telco get poor wireless performance.

I have ran the Adobe Production Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects), Maya 6.5, Combustion, Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER EXPRESS 2005, SONAR 5, Reason 3 and I get GREAT performance.

The only downside is the MULTI TASKING.... not great.
However, you can't expect a lot out of this laptop. The hard drive runs at 5400rpm, the video memory shares with the mother board memory 128MB so that bites into my 1 GIG total.

AMD has software to regulate the CHIP performance with work load but it is more designed to LIMIT during low power performance. During peak performance I think the CHIP just dosen't deliver.

When I boot to Win XP 64 bit... I feel I get BETTER performance out of this laptop. However, if the Windows XP 64 bit software is stable until you load the wrong software that is having comptability issues. I have all the latest 64bit drivers that was not a problem, but some software does not work well with the WoW mode... the mode that emulates 32 bit .... to allow those programs to run on this platform. I've done many reinstalls of WinXP 64 and different versions run better than others. The version microsoft offers for a free 1 month trial on their website is the most UNSTABLE version. THe Corporate Edition has been the best. The O/S intense programs like Anti-Virus programs are the most tempermental. They need thorough testing and after years and many versions by version 3 or 4 of 64 bit both o/s and software will be more stable.

I tried to boot various LINUX 64 bit operating systems on to this computer. Fedora, Utubut.. problems, problems... more problems. AFter wrestling with XP 64 bit, XP 32 bit .. yes, my original XP had a fatal operating system flaw that I spent a week trying to correct... REINSTALL.. I was able to salvage my work in SAFE MODE but I was not happy with the incident.

I recieved this laptop from my job in DECEMBER and AS of MAY i can now say this is a great laptop to run high end software, but I wouldn't recommend rendering or multitasking. Anyway you can't compare a laptop to what a desktop should be for... not any desktop a desktop with RAID and HD RPM speeds of 10k or more.

My office has 3 others on this computer and they have NO COMPLAINTS... of course they are using OFFICE and watching movies.. SUPERB for low end. However, high end you get all a laptop offers. In a light weight thin sized notebook. (Just add that battery and it is 66% heavier)...
