It's also ready for high-definition telecasts right out of the box, with a built-in HDTV tuner that lets you receive and decode free, over-the-air high-def broadcasts where available (optional antenna required). You can also receive HD broadcasts from a separately available, HD-compatible set-top receiver or cable/satellite TV box via the component video or lossless HDMI connections. The set's CableCARD port means you can also receive digital cable television systems services directly from a compatible cable system without requiring a bulky, external cable box.

This set features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, super-fast 8 ms (millisecond) response time (great for fast-action video games), 170-degree viewing angle, brightness rating of 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter), and an amazing 3000:1 contrast ratio.
