A great choice for smaller rooms like the bedroom or kitchen, the 20-inch Magnavox 20MF231W HD-ready LCD TV/monitor offers the versatility to easily switch back and forth between TV viewing and your computer monitor. It comes with a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner that can accommodate up to 125 cable channels. And it can display crisp high definition video (ATSC) when hooked up to an optional cable/satellite set-top box or HD receiver using the component HD video input.

The 20MF231W delivers a true 1366 x 768-pixel HDTV resolution (capable of displaying 1080i and 720p high-definition signals), and it also features a 16 ms (millisecond) response time for viewing fast-moving content with minimal bluring, 160-degree horizontal viewing angle, 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and 500:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The 2D comb filter separates chrominance (color) from luminance (brightness) information in the video signal for independent processing to improve picture resolution and minimize distortion.

This set has two built-in stereo speakers that produce 3 watts of sound per channel (for 6 total watts). It offers the following connection options:

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and had the same experience of a dead unit and long wait for IOmagic support to tell me the thing was dead. I received a replacement and bought an extended warranty as I expect this to keep happening. AVOID.

Short life span!.......2007-02-10

Guess I should have researched this item before I impulse purchased it. Like many others have experienced, mine worked great for 2 weeks then was suddenly unrecognizable by any computer. After talking with I/OMagic tech support for a ridiculous amount of time they concluded what I told them to begin with: it's dead. Fortunately I can return it for a full refund rather than getting a replacement unit. I'd stay away from this item if I were you.

Iomega 8 Gigabank.......2007-01-18

This product worked great to begin with, then I plugged it in one day and none of my computers could recognize it. After talking to tech support - (who wasted an hour having me do all the ridiculous things that tech support has people do, most of which I'd already tried before calling them), they determined that there's a problem with the device. Duh. They'll replace it, but I'm on my own with trying to retrieve the data. After looking around, I'm discovering that this seems to be a common problem with Western Digital, Iomega and I don't know who else. Maybe we need to go back to backing up on CDs.
