Product Description
Widescreen TV and HDTV doesn't require a large room. You should be able to appreciate and enjoy it in a small room. That's essentially where the Toshiba 20HL86 fits in. It's a TV with a 16:9 screen capable for viewing widescreen and HDTV programs. You can also use this as a PC monitor using the 15 Pin D-Sub Input. Though the screen offers a high 600:1 contrast ratio, Toshiba enhances contrast further with HD Dynamic Contrast. HD Dynamic Contrast continually analyzes picture information and enhances those parts of the picture with the most detailed information. This results in a sharper, deeper image with richer colors and a more film like image. High Definition MultiMedia Interface HDMI is the next generation of connectivity. It includes a digital video signal, and multi-channel digital audio signals on a single cable thus eliminating the need of a multiple cable hookup. Overall, small shouldn't be a compromise of features and the TheaterWide 20HL86 flat-panel LCD TV gives you a convenient TV with great picture and sound for any space. 15-Pin D-Sub VGA Input for use as a PC monitor Inputs - RF, (1) Rear A/V, (1) Rear S-Video, Component Video, A/V/S Front Panel, HDMI- HDTV Digital / Outputs - Audio SRS WOW 3-D Sound, Virtual Dolby, Stable Sound, MTS Stereo/SAP with dbx Audio Wattage - 20 Watts to built-in speakers V-Chip Parental Controls, Channel Return, Power Return, Noise Muting 3D YC Digital Comb Filter with Vertical Contour Correction Modes - Movie and Sports, TheaterWide (Standard, Full, TW1, TW2, TW3), Cinema (Film/Video) Individual A/V Settings by Input Type Channel and Video Labeling Tri-Lingual Color Icon On-Screen Display Illuminated Universal Remote Closed Captioning (On Mute) On Timer GameTimer Off/Sleep Timer Color Temperature Control (Warm/Medium/Cool) Direct Video Input Selection Unit Dimensions - (without stand) 21.04? Amazon.com Product Description
A great choice for smaller rooms or apartments, the stylishly black 20-inch Toshiba 20HL86 Theaterwide LCD television provides vividly colorful images from standard and high-definition television programming as well as DVD movies. Boosting the screen's contrast and speaker power from previous models, the 20HL86 also offers a 720p (progressive) true HD display with a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, and it's capable of displaying HDTV with an optional high-definition receiver or cable/satellite set-top box. Plus, you'll get pure digital audio/video performance via the HDMI input when connected to a compatible source. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition programming. It comes with a removable table stand, and this set can be wall-mounted with an optional kit.
You can use the 20HL86 as a computer monitor with its VGA 15-Pin D-sub input. In addition to its HD component-video input, the 20HL86 has a HDMI input terminal for direct digital connection with an HD set-top box. This LCD TV has a 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating and 600:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)
The 20HL86 performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture. A 3D Y/C comb filter (4 MB, 10-bit with Vertical Contour Correction) further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). The HD Dynamic Contrast feature increases contrast and color saturation to create deep, rich images. The intelligent circuitry analyzes both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizes the dynamic range in each area of the picture.
Convenience features include color temperature control, closed captioning on mute, sleep timer, tri-lingual on-screen display, V-Chip parental controls, video input labelling, channel labeling, and Toshiba's GameTimer feature, which allows parents to set the television to shut off after a specified period of time and stay off until a lockout key code is entered.
The speakers provide a total of 10 watts of power (5 watts per channel). The SRS WOW virtual surround sound system provides amazing, enveloping sound through just the two built-in speakers. It also provides MTS stereo/SAP with dbx. The StableSound feature eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.
It offers the following connection options:
Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
SRS WOW virtual surround sound processing technology consists of three separate sound expanding systems, which work together to extract "buried" highs and lows. The three systems are, SRS 3D, TruBass, and FOCUS. SRS 3D creates a three dimensional sound field from just two speakers, thus giving the listener the feeling of hearing a multi speaker surround sound system. TruBass produces a powerful, yet low, frequency sound by utilizing a process called psychoacoustics. From only two small speakers, TruBass will give the effect of an expensive sub bass woofer that will leave the listener amazed by the quality of the sound. FOCUS was added to direct the energy from the speakers of the television set in a vertical direction up towards the listenerÕs ears. The addition of FOCUS means that there is virtually no loss of sound from the speakerÕs position on the bottom panel near the floor, which achieves a clear, undistorted range of audio.
