I got this for Christams in 2006. I have it connected to a laptop that acts as a print server and, with the addition of this hard-drive, a file server.

My home is set up as a wifi network. Access from any of the 3 laptops to the file server is easy and fast. The drive is extremely quiet.

Now look out for this one thing - I have a HD, widescreen display on my laptop. The bounce-back software that is included with the disk drive can not support this resolution and it makes the application interface (menu) unreadable. You'll have to spend a few extra bucks to get a back-up utility that can handle a hi res monitor.
