Amazon.com Product Description
Boasting enough high-end technologies, sleek industrial design, and crisply colorful picture, the Mitsubishi's line of high-definition LCD TVs could be considered the "Cadillacs" of HD televisions. The 37-inch LT-3780 delivers stunning image clarity based on Mitsubishi's Plush 1080p imaging technology, which upconverts 1080i signals to 1080p producing four times the resolution of traditional line doublers (see more about Mitsubishi's exclusive set of video-enhancing technologies below). It includes dual HD tuners and a wide variety of digital inputs (including two HDMI and a Firewire input). It's also digital cable ready with the integrated CableCARD slot and incorporates TV Guide's On Screen program guide for easy viewing of what's on today and seven days into the future.

It comes with a separate media center--featuring all AV connections--for convenient and uncluttered installation. It also includes a multi-format memory card reader, enabling you to display still photo slideshows and play digital music files (MP3 and WMA). This set can be wall-mounted with optional hardware, but it includes a matching, removable swivel stand.

The LT-3780 has a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, compatibility with 480i/480p/720p/1080i video sources, 550 cd/m2 (candela per square meter), and a 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It pumps out audio via its integrated 10-watt speaker system (5 watts per two channels), which includes two 2-inch woofers and one 1-inch tweeter. It also offers Mitsubishi's Level Sound Dynamics Limiter features, which evens out the sound of programs--even during loud commercial breaks.

Other convenience features include color temperature controls, full-screen image freeze, two tuner picture-in-picture (PIP), split screen, channel preview (3 and 9 POP), and six 4:3 aspect ratio and two 16:9 aspect ratio picture formats. This set features the following video and audio connections:

The IEEE 1394 (also known as Firewire or i.Link) multimedia connection enables simple, low-cost, high-bandwidth real-time audio, video and data networking between a Mitsubishi TV and other consumer electronics products such as camcorders and DVHS VCRs. With IEEE 1394 compatible products and systems, users can record SD or HD digital video over a plug-and-play A/V network.

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Digital Cable Ready
You can connect your cable television directly from the wall to this LCD TV without going through a cable box to receive all of your cable channels, including premium channels, and get an even better picture by doing so. The LT-3280 has a slot on the back for a CableCARD, a device that descrambles subscribed channels. With the CableCARD (available from your local cable TV company), the TVÕs internal tuner will tune directly to the subscribed cable channels, eliminating the need for a seperate cable box.

When a digital cable TV channel is received via the CableCARD, it is decoded and remains a digital video signal all the way to the screen. Standard-definition digital channel signals are up-converted by the advanced processing capability in the set (see more about the Plush imaging feature below), giving it an HD-qualty picture. The resulting image has the best possible quality, with maximum bandwidth, and minimal noise and distortion.

Proprietary Mitsubishi Features
This television includes several exclusive Mitsubishi technologies that enhance its picture as well as ease of use.

Amazon.com Product Description

Easily mobile at just 6 pounds, the Toshiba Satellite A105-S2001 makes it easy to get your work done with a large, bright 15.4-inch screen (which is also great for watching DVD movies when you need a break). This affordable notebook PC also features a battery-sipping 1.7 GHz Celeron M processor, a 60 GB hard drive, 512 MB of installed RAM (2 GB maximum), DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive that plays DVD movies and burns music and data to CDs, integrated 54g wireless connectivity, ATI Radeon XPress 200M video card with up to 64 MB of shared video RAM, and Windows XP Home operating system.

The Basics

  • Hard Drive: Smaller than its sibling A105-S2021, the A105-S2001 has a 60 GB hard drive, which is more average in size but in line with other business-centric notebooks of this size. However, this Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0 with its 5400 RPM speed.
  • Processor: The Intel Celeron M Processor 380 is designed specifically for mobile computing, offering a balanced level of mobile-optimized processor technology, good mobile performance, and exceptional value. The 1.7 GHz speed resides at the very top of the spectrum for this processor (as of March 2006). It also features a 400 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and good-sized 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
  • Memory: The 512 MB of built-in memory (PC4200, DDR2 SDRAM) is a good start for power users, and it offers a very fast 533 MHz speed. It has two memory slots, enabling you to add more power to handle graphics-intensive presentations and multiple open business productivity applications.
  • CD/DVD Drive: With the included DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, you'll be able to watch DVD movies as well as burn data and your favorite music mixes to CD. It has 24x write, 4x rewrite, and 24x read speeds for CDs, and a 16x DVD read speed.
  • Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a standard 85-key keyboard and electro-static two-button touchpad. It also offers a launch button for the Express CD/DVD media player and control buttons (play, stop, next, previous).
A/V Features
With Toshiba's unique Express Media Player, you can won't have to wait for Windows to boot up before you can start a DVD movie or CD. Just a simple press of the button bypasses the system and starts your media playing.

    Screen, Graphics and Sound
The A105-S2001 has a 15.4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It also provides TruBrite technology, which makes images brighter and more vivid thanks to its anti-glare feature. Video is powered by the ATI Radeon XPress 200M IGP video/graphics card, which delivers good, though not high-end, 3D graphics. It delivers up to 64 MB of video RAM shared with the system RAM. ATI's HyperMemory technology allows the chipset to run in either Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) mode or with dedicated frame buffer memory to enhance graphics performance. It also features an integrated audio card with headphone and microphone jacks.

    Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The A105-S2001 has an integrated 802.11b/g wireless-LAN that enables you to easily connect at wireless hotspots wherever you roam You get a fairly basic offering of connectivity options:

  • 4 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
  • 1 VGA monitor port
  • 1 S-Video out
  • 1 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type II, PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card16, CardBus)
  • 1 headphone jack, 1 microphone jack
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Gigabit Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).

    Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web. It also comes preloaded with Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, McAfee AntiVirus, InterVideo WinDVD and WinDVD Creator, Sonic Solutions RecordNow.

    Dimensions and Weight
    This notebook measures 14.2 x 10.5 x 1.45 (WxDxH) and weighs 6 pounds.

    Power
It's powered by a 4-cell rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which has a battery life of up to 1.5 hours (depending on usage). It has a 4-hour full charging time with the notebook off, and 12 hours with the computer active.

    What's in the Box
This package contains the A105-S2001 notebook PC, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It is backed by a one-year limited hardware warranty.

1 out of 5 stars DONT BUY THIS.......2006-09-01

Bought this from Cicuit city for $650 in 2005. LOTS of problems. USB port doesn't work after three months I bought this. Can't return to circuit city and didn't get insurance. The screws are loose. Overheats VERY fast compared to other laptops. Once in a while when I turn it on, the screen is faded. The screen is lopsided. My little brother accidentaly put the mouse wires while the laptop was closed. So the right side of the computer doesn't even close! Never buy from toshiba again!
It's good for the price. But not durability.

4 out of 5 stars Basic laptop, works fine.......2006-09-01

I've had this for 6 months now, and haven't had any problems with it. The wireless modem works great, the screen is bigger than avg, and it started up & run properly everytime. I've put some pretty bulky programs on it, and it hasn't slowed down at all. I upgraded on my own to MS Office because MS Work just didn't do it for me. I was shopping for a reliable, basic laptop, and so far that's what I've gotten.

1 out of 5 stars If it would just turn on!.......2006-08-28

My surprise was that the computer doesn't initialize at all. I requested a return form to send it back to amazon but I haven't received any information as to how to return the computer, all I get is a bad link in my email. The service shop here is really bad, so I'm stuck with a computer that doesn't work and I can't send it back. Just my luck.

    3 out of 5 stars Beware.......2006-08-13

I had a Toshiba Satellite during college. I found it to be a nice computer for the money, but after three years it abruptly crashed and DIED. I now have an Apple ibook G4, which for a few hundred more dollars is probably the better way to go.

4 out of 5 stars Comment regarding previous review.......2006-04-23

I do not own this particular notebook, but I am considering purchasing it.

The one I have is the Satellite P25-670, which is a more high end computer, but still a Satellite.

Based on the previous review, I thought I should make a comment.

I had random shutdown problems with my Satellite notebook as well. After researching a bit on the internet, I learned that it could be caused by the computer overheating. It is a protection measure to avoid damaging the motherboard due to high temperatures. I took it to a repair center, and all they did was to clean the fans. They were clogged with dust, so the cooling wasn't working properly. After this simple procedure, I never had any more problems.
