This set is compatible with 480p (EDTV) and 108i and 720p (HDTMV) display formats. It has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner and it's capable of displaying high definition TV signals with an optional receiver. It has a resolution of 1280 by 768 pixels. It also features an 800:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and 170-degree viewing angle. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

first impressions.......2007-06-01

This is my 2nd External USB enclosure, and it was by far cheaper in price. When I got the box and openened it, I expected to get the usual step by step zillion things to do - but no! This little enclosure came with such simple components that opening it and completing the job took me less than 2 minutes - no kidding. It comes with a nice little screwdriver, a few screws with extras in case you lose some. After inserting the drive, the only effort was to screw the back panel in with 2 screws and I was done. Last thing: it's more like a sleeve than an enclosure. It is really that slim.

I could not get this thing to work with Windows Vista. I tried everything I could, but got no where.

Overall, the design of the product is pretty good. I did get a full refund from TigerDirect.com, so if you make the same mistake I did, it wont be that much of a hassel to get your money back.

Feels cheap, but works as expected.......2007-03-28

When buying a hard drive case or enclosure, this is probably as cheap as you can get. It doesn't have the "bells and whistles" that other cases have, such as a power switch or a fan to keep the drive cool. Also, as other reviewers mentioned, tiny screws hold the contraption together, so once you get the hard drive in, it's very unlikely you'll want to mess with it to switch out with another drive on a regular basis.

That being said, it was exceptionally easy to use, and took less than 5 minutes of setup. It performs very well. I would recommend it for anyone who only needs occasional access to a drive. If you're using it for recovery/backup, you can't go wrong. If you want to leave it connected to your computer all the time for constant access, I'd advise shopping for a version that can easily be powered off and is cooled by fan. Otherwise, all you have to do is connect the power cord when you want to fire this one up. For $20, you can't expect much more.

Footnote: This drive case does NOT require you to re-format your disk before use. So if you have a hard drive from an old or failed computer that you want to take data off of, this will work for you right out of the box.

The thing sucks.. it has no power switch. You have to unplug the 11 pin power plug that is very delicate to power it off.. if not then it keeps spinning your HD and gets very hot. plus it stopped working after a month. Do not buy..
