The Z26LZ5R features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers.

Faroudja's DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) and TrueLife video processing eliminate jagged edges that appear with progressive-scan displays for a smoother picture. The 2D digital comb filter helps reduce video noise by comparing each horizontal scanning line with the lines above and below and with the corresponding line on the previous subsequent video frames. This is almost the exact model I bought 4 months ago. It is a good deal, functions very nicely and has a great set of features. Seriously, I don't know how they make money on this. The price is absolutely reasonable.

However I had some concerns about the use and weathering of some of the materials used (at the time I bought it), that have proved to be legitimate. The keyboard half uses three materials; black matte plastic (so far so good), glossy black plastic (ugh), and perforated metal (ummmmm. no!). the glossy black surface around the keybard, (y'know the part you TOUCH!) picks up every fingerprint and oil that that occurs naturally on a human hand. Within one day of using it, this surface is disgusting. You're showing someone your work on the screen and all of a sudden you're both distracted by the revolting keyboard enclosure.

Likewise for the perf metal. Anything softer than metal that gets accidently rubbed against it fills the holes with gunk; that and the paint is eaily scaped off it because the holes give such tactility to the surface.

The HP series looks pretty shabby pretty quickly. Your computer shouldn't function great and take all it's his on style. Replace these materials. I know they're the signature look of HP, but how about choosing a look that isn't detrimental to the computer?
