Equipped with an integrated ATSC high-definition tuner, the Sony KDL-42XBR950 42-inch LCD TV delivers superior clarity and resolution whether broadcasting HD content, a DVD movie, digital cable, satellite TV, or video games. The TV's WEGA Engine combines with the LCD flat panel to offer a wide viewing angle and high-resolution 1,366 x 758 images. Other advantages to the WEGA Engine are Direct Digital Circuitry, which ensures rich, natural-looking images from any source, along with Digital Reality Creation technology, which doubles the pixels on each scan line (vertical and horizontal) to create a screen with four times the density. Meanwhile, the TV's two built-in NTSC tuners and single ATSC tuner coordinate with the picture-in-picture function to let viewers watch two programs from different sources (480i, 480p, 1080i, or 720p) either side by side or in an inset window.

Other features include installation flexibility via the two-piece design, the smoothing facility of CineMotion reverse 3-2 pulldown, enhanced Memory Stick playback that lets users view digital photos and MPEG movies through the TV; and such convenient add-ons as a sleep timer, multilingual onscreen display, Speed Surf rapid channel scanning, auto channel programming, closed captioning, a two-event clock/timer, V-chip parental control, and favorite channel.

Audio is covered by the 30-watt built-in speaker system (15 watts x 2), which complements the TruSurround surround sound and Steady Sound auto volume control. HD users can connect additional set-top boxes via the DVI-HDTV input, while movie lovers will use the two component video inputs to display DVD films at their highest resolution. The TV also includes one front and two rear S-video inputs, one front and two rear video inputs, one front and five rear audio inputs, one front and two rear i.Link inputs, one optical output, one Control-S input and one output, one fixed/variable audio output, and one subwoofer output.

Misleading purchase.......2007-05-07

Firstly, as soon as I opened the box, it struck me that the external drive received was not the same as the unit I ordered online. Further investigation suggests that the unit received is an update of the one I thought that I was purchasing online. Secondly, I purchased a new Dell laptop running Vista & wanted to be able to pefrform complete system back-ups, however, going through the Recovery Manager, when I used the full system back-up option, it gave an error message that the drive does not have a certain compatibility to support full systems back-ups. This is a major dissapointment also. I now use the file back-up option, but this is not want I had wanted to do.

Works Just Great.......2007-01-11

Does just what I expected. Just plug it into the back of your computer. The top of the device has an on/off switch. The speed of file movement is exactly the same to me as if you were moving files to another internal drive. You can save files directly to the drive. Folder building is exactly the same as you would do for your C drive. The Seagate is rather professional looking and fits right on my desk on the side of the computer. I would recommend this for anyone. I have had it for approximately three months and have had no problems at all.

It has been used to back my primary computer. Having a denial of service virus is heart sickening. I bought a second one for my secondary computer and it was good buy even though it cost one dollar more.
