Amazon.com Product Description
Distinctively designed for an attractive centerpiece to any room, the 32-inch Sharp LC32SH20U LCD HDTV will also provide exceptional HDTV and home theater entertainment for years to come, thanks to its 60,000-hour long life screen. You'll enjoy highly detailed colors and amazing depth of picture as well as appreciate its slim footprint. It has a built-in ATSC tuner that pulls HD signals right from the airwaves (via an optional antenna), and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. It comes with its own tabletop stand, and it can also be wall-mounted via optional hardware.

This set features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution for a true 16:9 aspect ratio--perfect for watching your favorite widescreen movies in the format they were intended. It has a high 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, which provides a vivid picture even when placed near windows, doors, or other light sources. It also offers a 170-degree viewing angle so everyone in the room can enjoy the picture, a 12 ms (millisecond) response time (which helps fast moving video not appear jaggy), and an 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

It has two bottom-mounted stereo speakers that produce 10 watts of total audio power (5 watts per channel). Other connection options include:

Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

5 out of 5 stars great laptop.......2006-08-18

i love this laptop i bought one for my wife it it speed though almost anything she use's it for it's not great for high end games but midrange games and online etc it's great i upgraded the ram to 1 gb and the only problem i had with it was a bad dvd rom and gateway sent me a new rom within 2 days. great for the money

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Laptop, GREAT screen w/o intel garbage.......2006-07-05

The other reviewer has a valid point about the restore. I hate those partitioned restores so I just dont rely on them (and I often delete them upon re-install). For a person who is a seasoned pro, this is a great buy. The screen is a shiny bright LCD with impeccible quaility. The Ati xpress 200 chipset has desktop power, and the mobile athlon rocks! I jacked the ram up to 1024 and run my vid card memory @ 128MB for better balance.

The 4 stars is mainly for the weight and size of this beast. It's a good 5 lbs and it's about 17 inches across by 12 inches vertically. It's not too thick though, but I knew all of this when I bought it. If you want a word processor/web browser, get a Celeron or a Pentium M. If you want big boy power, get a nice AMD 64 system.

PS- Vista sucks on this system. It uses 49% of avail. memory @ idle and renders the new aero interface quite badly. The reason I mention this is because microsoft stamped this machine "vista capible" and it just ain't:)

2 out of 5 stars I wouldn't advise . . . has recovery issues.......2006-06-18

I purchased this laptop, and it's all well and good. The issue I have with this laptop is the way the hard drive is partitioned, and the poor recovery disk setup. The recovery disk does not have the bundled software that the laptop comes with, so, if anything happens to the hard drive, and you have to do a full restore, you would most likely lose the programs. In addition, a full restore would NOT restore the device drivers, unfortunately, as I have painfully experienced. I bought two of these, and have had cause to contact gateway for a CD that would be more helpful. Performance-wise though, it is a good system. This is my third Gateway laptop using the same form factor, and the monitor hinge is rather weak, and I have experienced serious cracking with my first one.
