The LC37GB5U is a 37" state-of-the-art widescreen LC-TV that can easily enhance the decor of any family room, living room or den. With a true 16:9 aspect ratio, HDTV-compatible resolution of 1366 x 768, Sharp's Emmy award-winning LCD technology and breathtaking color purity, it is a next-generation TV to carry you into the high-definition future. The television utilizes Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel, which provides levels of high brightness (450 cd/m[2]), an 800:1 contrast ratio, and wide viewing angles (170 degrees x 170 degrees). A terrestrial ATSC decoder is built in for receiving off-air HDTV broadcasts (using an optional HDTV antenna). The LC37GB5U features a sleek silver design with high-aperture aluminum speakers to ensure the sound is as outstanding as the picture. It features a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner and a wide variety of connections for DVD, DTV, PC, HDTV sources. It includes a tabletop stand that swivels and tilts to face practically any direction, and an optional wall-mount is available.
The advanced Super View LCD panel has a black TFT low-reflection coating, and it features a high contrast ratio of 800:1 and a brightness rating of 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter). The 170-degree viewing angle makes it easy to view the screen from almost anywhere in the room. The LC-37D5U has a wide XGA (1366 x 768 pixel) resolution, and the widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio) is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players.
