Product Description
Mitsubishi's WD-62527 is equipped with SmartShutter, Mitsubishi's patented high contrast system that produces images with deep blacks and incredible dark scene detail. SmartShutter improves contrast by four times when compared to standard LCD rear projection systems, thanks to Mitsubishi's proprietary optical technology that utilizes advanced aperture control to reduce light output levels during dark scenes. QuickMotion, Mitsubishi's proprietary quick response LCD drive, generates sharp, crisp, clean images which is especially critical for high motion content such as sports and action scenes. Additionally, a specially formulated LCD coating enables wider viewing angles by producing higher light dispersion from the LCD panels. The WD-62527 boasts 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and features Mitsubishi's Plush720p imaging technology. Plush720p includes an advanced algorithm that creates high-resolution imagery from standard definition digital and analog sources such as DVD and cable TV.This Mitsubishi LCD projection television includes ClearThought technology, making it the easiest to use TV available. ClearThought includes an integrated HDTV tuner with CableCARD slot; NetCommand 5.0, the latest generation of Mitsubishi's home theater system control; all-digital audio which converts every audio signal to digital output; and the TV Guide On Screen electronic program guide. Amazon.com Product Description
You'll enjoy a breathtaking viewing experience from any video source with the amazingly large and bright 62-inch Mitsubishi MicroDisplay WD-62527 high-definition, rear-projection LCD. Featuring a simple, clean design with a compact cabinet (at just 19.9 inches deep), the WD-52527 will fit into virtually any home theater furnishings without crowding the surroundings. It includes dual HD tuners and a wide variety of digital inputs (including two HDMI inputs and two Firewire ports). It's also digital cable ready with the integrated CableCARD slot and incorporates TV Guide's On Screen program guide for easy viewing of what's on today and seven days into the future.

It delivers stunningly bright images thanks to Mitsubishi's proprietary 3LCD light engine and Plush720p imaging technology, which converts lower quality analog to HDTV resolution. The 3LCD technology simultaneously projects three full-time red, green and blue images, so there's no color breakup or "rainbow effect" that may cause eyestrain or visual fatigue.

The WD-62527 has a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and compatibility with 480i/480p/720p/1080i video sources. It pumps out audio via its integrated 20-watt speaker system (10 watts per two channels) and also offers Mitsubishi's Level Sound Dynamics Limiter features, which evens out the sound of programs--even during loud commercial breaks. A 480-line motion-adaptive 3D Y/C digital comb filter delivers state-of-the-art detail and color enhancement.

Other convenience features include color temperature controls, full-screen image freeze, two tuner picture-in-picture (PIP), split screen, six 4:3 aspect ratio and two 16:9 aspect ratio picture formats, channel labeling, V-Chip parental controls, and a sleep timer. This set features the following video and audio connections:

The IEEE 1394 (also known as Firewire or i.Link) multimedia connection enables simple, low-cost, high-bandwidth real-time audio, video and data networking between a Mitsubishi TV and other consumer electronics products such as camcorders and DVHS VCRs. With IEEE 1394 compatible products and systems, users can record SD or HD digital video over a plug-and-play A/V network.

Proprietary Mitsubishi Features
This television includes several exclusive Mitsubishi technologies that enhance its picture as well as ease of use.

Tech Talk
A microdisplay television typically offers a large screen with a cabinet that's deeper than standard LCD and plasma screens, but far more compact than old-school cathode-ray television (CRTs). This rear-projection TV projects red, green, and blue light that's filtered through a pixel-filled microchip color wheel and directed onto a digital micromirror device (DMD), a chip with millions of hinged, microscopic mirrors attached, which switches on and off up to 5,000 times a second. The reflected light is directed through a lens and onto a screen, creating an image. Unlike rear-projection CRT sets, all microdisplays can get quite bright without losing detail, so they're perfectly watchable in brightly lit rooms.

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

2 out of 5 stars Only plays mp3 files..........2007-04-24

This product only plays mp3 files, it doesn't play wma files at all. The hardware player works fine and the choice of volume types is diverse. It allows you to switch from the player to games, calucator, dictionary modes with no problems. However, I would suggest to some buyers beware, it is not what they believe it to be from the packaging. I learned the hard way but at least where I got it from wasn't the advertised price online. I got from Office Depot in person on sale for under $49.99. So, it is not too bad but they could done better for such high profilic company.

1 out of 5 stars poorly designed firmware with capable hardware........2007-04-04

1. Franklin seems incapable to show phonetic symbols for pronunciations.
2. The hardware itself can play mp3 files, but the dictionary itself is mute.
3. It supports uploading via usb but no firmware/dictionary upgrade is possible.

After I placed the order and the order went to DigitalEtc, I could not cancel it anymore (via phone or email)and I have never got response for my emails. I refused the package and was required to pay for the shipping and credit card costs.
