Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Could be better as a cellphone.......2007-04-12

Pros:
1. Small size.
2. WinCE 5.0 based so flexible to install third-party software.
3. Can be easily unlocked and taken SIM cards from other carriers.
4. Screen is ok but not as good as my Dell X51V which is VGA and 640x480.

Cons:
1. No auto-keyboard lock which is annoying.
2. Alarm clock lacks fundamental functionalities and cannot be used if the unit is turned off.
3. Battery could be longer.
4. Joystick should be more easy to operate.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for Phone for Me..........2007-03-27

The phone is an excellent phone. I upgraded to this from a Motorola Mpx220 and this is by far a better phone. The increased resolution is a god send and makes viewing webpages a bit easier. The edge network is very nice compared to standard GPRS. Bluetooth is much easier to enable and disable with the connection manager button. the difficulty in getting my previous phone to sync combined with the inaccessibility of the turn off bluetooth function meant I never tried to sync with bluetooth. With this phone though it's effortless.

Now for the negative aspects (not enough to reduce my rating):
First the two things that I noticed were most mentioned in reviews before I bought this phone:
1. The in ability to easily press the power button - I believe the phone I got is a revision that solved this problem. The power button is extremely easy to push, but not so much that you will turn your phone off accidentally.
2. The problem with the two soft keys that remain active when you have the phone locked. This isn't really an issue for me. I could see how it would be if you always stuck your phone in a holder that was a tight fit (the one that comes with the phone is a tight fit, I wouldn't use it) or a pair of jeans that fit tightly, but if the phone has room to move a bit in your pocket or holder, you won't have this issue. The only time it has popped up for me is when I reached into my pocket and actually hit the buttons while trying to answer it. That is more my issue rather than the phones issue and could happen to any phone if you aren't careful when pulling your phone out of your pocket. Bar phones are touchy like that. It is an issue if you don't provide the phone enough room to maneuver or if you cram it into a bunch of stuff in your pocket which could accidentally hit the buttons.

now for the other issues I have with it:
1. the Mini SD card slot could be in an easier position to get to. You have to remove the battery to get to it, which means you need to shut the phone down obviously. Minor annoyance that hasn't really affected me (I don't remove it often).
2. The backlight on the keys is a bit on the unpredictable side. Seems like you have to be using the phone to get the back light to activate...and even then you have to be in a pretty dark area. I wish it would just turn on whenever the display was active and the ambient light was low. There's some other factor that comes into play that makes when it turns on unpredictable.
3. The joystick navigation is a little touchy sometimes...though I chalk this up to me only having this for about 15 days now.
4. lack of a flash for the camera...this isn't a major issue as the flash on my mpx220 was worthless...it would flash...then take the picture...usually resulting in a dark room with people having glowing eyes. It would be nice if it had a flash, but I can live without it. The pictures it takes are good quality for a camera phone...you just need to make sure you have a decent level of light.

Overall I love the phone.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE II.......2007-03-05

I have to agree with JRCAPO wholeheartedly and add that the navigation key most of the time does something else especially when you press it down and mine has frozen a couple of times. Since it was my first PDA phone I thought I needed to get used to it. Don't make my mistake it sucks. Don't get it. It still calls people while on lock in its case and goes on the internet wasting my free minutes. I could go on and on.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent. Full of features.......2006-12-30

An excellent and full of features phone: MS SmartPhone software accepts many Pocket PC apps, MP3 and video player, still and video camera, games, easy synch with PC (100s of contacts transferred in seconds), BlueTooth, easy data (photo, mp3 etc) exchange with PC (simple dragging between folders), speaker, micro SD expansion and many more. Call quality and reception pretty good. Cons: it has to be recharged often, but this huge (in features; small in size) machine needs more power.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE - Be Very Aware!.......2006-10-08

I will keep this review brief because every other review points out all of the very good, and very valid features of the 2125. In fact, I agree with just about every positive comment ever made - this is the best phone I have ever owned. EXCEPT FOR ONE VERY MAJOR DESIGN FLAW: When the keys are locked, two buttons remain active on the phone: The ANSWER key and the IGNORE key. These are the two soft buttons just under the screen. The problem is that these are the two highest buttons on the phone. So when a call comes in and the phone is in your pocket or in the included case, you inevitably end up pushing one of these two buttons in the process of trying to get it out of your pocket or out of the case. That means that the phone is not really locked at all! In fact, you almost always end up answering a call before you can even see who is calling. I have even unknowingly answered calls while the phone was still in its case! This translates into people hearing your private conversations without you even knowing that they are on the line.

I know that most people will read this and say "he must be missing something." But, believe me, I am VERY tech saavy and this is a very well-known problem featured on many user forums for this phone - including those on Cingular's own website! Now, here's the rub: the problem is not something you'll notice in the first few days of owning the phone, which is why so many reviewers miss it. Second, and more importantly, Cingular, although they know about the problem, will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING To make it right. Trust me, after 30 days, you'll be stuck with this phone, or be forced to pay full price for a different one. It's nothing short of criminal.

Another somewhat less disabling feature of this phone, but equally annoying, is that it does not automatically adjust to different time zones. So you have to manually adjust the time zone yourself when you change from city to city. For business travelers, like myself, this is a HUGE inconvenience. Again, with no fix.

It's a real shame because virtually everything else about this phone is flawless. And this would be so easy to fix. But our ever-so-arrogant wireless carriers just don't seem to care. And that's just too bad.

Bottom Line: DON'T BUY THIS PHONE. I guarantee you will only end up frustrated, ripped-off, and forced into buying a phone that is actually usable.
