Amazon.com Product Description
Poised to deliver crystalline, high-definition home theater images, Sampo's HDTV-ready PME-42X6 is compatible with PAL and NTSC video formats and can display 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i HDTV signals (though it doesn't include a DTV receiver). With a physical resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 pixels, this plasma set offers many times the display pixels of standard LCD TVs. Its two progressive-scan component-video inputs let you hook up a progressive-scan DVD player as well as a digital TV receiver.

With a pixel pitch of just 1.08 mm, a contrast ratio of 550:1, and a brightness of 500 cd/m, your home cinema will sparkle with excitement. The monitor includes a DVI input (DVI 24-pin), RGB inputs and outputs (D-Sub 15-pin), composite-, component-, and S-video inputs, and a detachable 181-channel NTSC tuner. USB and RS-232 control ports enhance connectivity options. Variable image aspect ratios let the display be tailored to your video source.

For audio, the monitor offers 5 watts per channel stereo sound and selectable fixed/variable audio outputs, which give flexibility when the monitor is used with a home stereo. An impressive six stereo analog audio inputs let you hook up a range of external AV devices, and a dedicated subwoofer jack lets you send low frequencies to an optional powered subwoofer. BBE high-definition sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages, while SRS TruSurround simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on a TV). The set also features a trilingual onscreen display: English, Spanish, French.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Control, Poor Performance.......2007-05-20

I have been a fan of LaCie hard drives for many years, so I am doubly dissapointed in this external DVD burner. The first one started failing to write either DVDs or CDs after about 5 days. I contacted LaCie, and after several hours of trying different cables, upgrading firmware, different computers, etc., they gave me a return authorization. I sent it back (at my expense) and in return got a second one which was dead right out of the box. The third one finally works - sort of. It writes DVDs or CDs just fine, but many DVDs that mount and play just fine in my DVD player or any of our 3 Macs will not mount using the LaCie. I am not going to waste any more time and money trying to get LaCie to replace this one unless it fails completely. At this point I have no confidence that the replacement would be any better.

1 out of 5 stars Firewire Connection Was Messed Up.......2007-04-24

I bought this hoping it would cure my busted Superdrive on my G4 iMac but when connected via the Firewire it would freeze any program I was using to burn cd's or dvd's. I thought it might have been a messed up product so I returned it to Lacie and got another one but the problem still persisted.

I then thought it was my computer, but the firewire ports worked when connected to my old iPod and even worked when connected to my Lacie external HDD. Finally figured that the product was defective after I purchased the Sony DRX-830 dvd burner and that burner worked perfectly when connected via firewire.

This product however worked when connected on the USB port but the burning speeds were so slow that it was just about useless.

5 out of 5 stars Great dvd burner.......2007-03-19

This is a solid device, and I like the included software for burningb dvd as well as cd

4 out of 5 stars No problems on an iMac.......2007-03-08

I haven't had any problems using this DVD/CD burner over Firewire on a G4 iMac running Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.9 . In fact, setting the drive up was easier than what was recommended in the manual; it was truly plug-and-play.

Minor quibbles: the open/close button is hard to reach when the disc tray is extended, the black plastic face of the drive looks cheesy compared to the cool aluminum case, and only the Lite version of Toast 6 is included.

Bottom line: I would buy this burner again, given my experiences using it.

2 out of 5 stars not real happy.......2007-02-20

My hubby bought this for me for xmas this year & I thought I was doing something wrong, until I read the other review. I am having the same problem. My recordings skip in my player & sometimes LightScribe works but most times not. I love the idea of this but am not happy with the product.
