These discs do work as advertised, that is, they don't smear. I had previously use printable TDKs and they smear easily with a wet finger. I ran the same test on the Imations and they didn't smear, using the same printer and ink and even pushing a little harder. I did get a little darkening of the surface for a short time, but once it dried, it went away. Price is higher than others, but for special projects like wedding DVDs, it's worth it. For noncritical jobs where I just use a Sharpie, the cheaper disks are good enough.
