Amazon.com Product Description
This sleek clamshell comes packed with deluxe features that discriminating wireless users crave. With Bluetooth, dual color displays, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and a lot more, the LG LX-350's got it where it counts. It's also a great companion for Sprint PCS users who want the power of PCS Vision functionality.
Design
The LX-350's handsome clamshell form factor houses an internal 128 x 160 display that boasts 262,000 colors. There's also a supplementary, 96 x 64 OLED color display on the front cover that displays pictures, call information, battery life, time of day, signal strength and more. The camera unit is placed just above this display, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button above the handset's dial pad. A button to engage the camera for quick shots is on the right side of the phone, while volume control keys are placed on the left. A 2.5 mm headset jack is also provided.
Calling Features
With 30 MB of internal memory, The LX-350's built-in address book is designed to handle all the contacts you can throw at it. You can customize your caller ID by linking a downloaded image or one of your photos to a specific phone number in your contact list. Likewise, you can associate callers with specific ringtones. And speaking of ringtones, you can choose from 309 built-in ring tones, offering a variety of traditional ring tones as well as up to 72 chord polyphonic melodic ring tones. There's also a vibrating alert for when you want to be discreet. Meanwhile, advanced voice recognition lets you say the name or number of the person you want to call and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. No prior voice training is needed. Plus, a speakerphone makes it easy to talk while you're busy with other tasks.
The LX-350's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911 (where available). Perhaps most importantly for users in rural areas, the LX-350 is a tri-mode phone, meaning it can operate on Sprint's digital PCS network, as well as analog networks that serve many outlying areas.
Because the LX-350 is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The LX-350 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving text and picture messages. With Sprint PCS Picture Mail, you can take a picture anytime and send it to family and friends instantly while on the Sprint PCS Network (Sprint messaging charges apply). And because the LX-350 supports video capture and playback, you can also send video messages via Sprint PCS Video Mail. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
The phone also supports PCS Vision email and instant messaging capabilities. Sprint PCS Vision transforms the wireless experience from something that's simply functional into something visual, entertaining and highly personalized. MSN Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, and AOL Instant Messenger are all supported by Sprint's PCS Vision service. PCS Vision mobile Web services let you check out sports scores, get your seven-day forecast, check your flight status, and stay up to date with the latest news. You'll also experience full-color graphic versions of popular Web sites. The phone also supports multimedia services that, with the built-in Sprint Media Player, allow you to see and hear the latest music, plus headlines and video clips of artist interviews and performances.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the LX-350 including a calendar, a calculator, and an alarm clock. A voice recorder lets you record voice memos for later retrieval. Lastly, you can use the phone's Bluetooth connectivity to provide wireless Internet and email access to your PC.
Imaging and Entertainment
As mentioned, the LX-350 features a powerful, built-in 1.3 megapixel still and video camera with zoom, white balance, brightness, self-timer, and white balance features. The phone allows you to print pictures without using a PC by connecting directly with a PictBridge supported printer via the included USB cable. Capture video clips up to 15 seconds in length and save them or send them to friends via Sprint PCS video messaging. Again, the phone's built-in video player lets you view video content on your phone.
The phone lets you choose from a variety of pre-set images to customize your display and make it unique to you. With PCS Vision's wireless download service, you can reflect your interests with thousands of pictures of your favorite TV characters, sports teams, celebrities, urban artwork, and more. You can also download games like Tetris and Pac-Man for hours of fun.
Vital Statistics
The LG LX-350 weighs 3.7 ounces and measures 3.62 x 1.85 x .9 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time. It runs on the AMPS 850/CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
Customer Reviews:
A Solid Performer.......2007-01-27
This is a great phone for people who want something solid and well-made without all the extras they really don't need. I've used it for 9 months without any problems. The Bluetooth works fine too.
What a tease!.......2007-01-14
I got this phone free with a new contract. Its a tease.. but let me get into the pro's and con's of this phone before I give you my opinion.
Pro's
1.3 mp camera.
Video Enabled
USB port for PC connection and charging of the phone
Speaker Phone
Voice Command Button
PictBridge
32768 kb of memory
Voice memo
Notepad
Scheduler, Calendar, Tip Calculator... etc
Ringtone, Voice Memo and Picture Assignment
Bluetooth enabled
Con's
Voice command button is located at the side of the phone.
Ringtones are boring midi's.
USB cable not included
Software not included
Limited transfers between phone and PC
My thoughts on the pros:
I like the 1.3 mp camera. I even managed to get a few printable pictures out of it. Video is a neat feature but not great quality. It does have a USB connection (purchase data cable separately) which is cool to load your pictures into your computer, and have the phone charge in the process. It's neat to have the picture assignment feature. You can see the picture of the person calling in your sub-display. You can also assign a ring tone to particular contacts. I am not sure if 32768 kb's of memory is a lot for a phone, but I did manage to store 80+ pictures in this phone, before I downloaded them into my computer.
The speakerphone and voice command can come in handy I suppose, but the sound quality and need to repeat yourself for voice recognition is tedious. Of course this phone has other little features like calculators, alarms schedulers etc., if you like or need that sort of thing.
My thoughts on the cons:
The design of the phone stinks. I am constantly hitting the voice command button when I handle the phone and when I place it in my cell phone holder. In addition, push the wrong button and the phone wants to connect to the internet. Its very internet oriented.
The ringtones that come with the phone leave a lot to be desired. If you enjoy midi's of Super Freak, or Imagine, @@ then you may actually enjoy this phone.. lol. You can buy ringtones at sprint, however they are only licensed for 90 days.
The USB cable didn't come with the phone so I purchased it separately online. Got the cable, and then realized, it wouldn't work without the software. So I made another purchase for the software. The seller sent me a CD that would not read in my computer and the answer from cellphoneshop.net was ..... "Download it free from the company at mobileaction.com". HUH? I paid $25.00 for software that doesn't work, and he informs me that I could download it free at the company's website? Grrr.. well that may be better left for another review.
There is limited (if any) transfer capability from your computer to your phone. I can transfer pictures from my cell to my computer but not vice versa. I can load my contacts from my cell to my computer.. but haven't tried the reverse.
In summary.....
If you can get this phone for free, and don't care about the issues I have stated, then by all means choose it. However, I would not go out of my way to purchase this phone. The usb capabilities tease you at first, believing you will have more control over the content in the phone. You don't.
If I was purchasing a phone, i'd invest my money in a phone with a Smart Card, so that I wouldn't have to break the bank just to have a cool ringer, and purchase additional accessories to get pictures out of my phone.
Garbage.......2006-10-13
This phone is junk. No way to erase a voicemail without listening to it, and one I have came in on a number no longer in use. No way to hold the unit without hitting the side buttons and changing settings accidently.
Phone does not keep a log of incoming, outgoing, missed calls, even though
it is supposed too. ( Edit - this was due to improper programming and was corrected by local Sprint store)
The bluetooth is iffy at best.
Overall this phone is almost useless for its intended purpose.
Hope I can get my old Sanyo RL4920 back from my daughter. It worked and worked well. Only took the LG 350 because it was free when I changed my Sprint calling plan contract.
Very disappointed and would not recommend this phone.
GREAT PHONE.......2006-06-19
This is a great phone. Ive never had an LG before this and now Im blown away at the greatness of this phone. One its physically appealing, very easy to use. The only problem I have is not with the phone but with sprint. If you want to send pictures you now have to pay extra a month and the same if you want to use the voice regonition feature. But overall a great buy I highly recommend this phone.
Life is Good.......2006-06-10
I purchased this phone a month ago, and was a little skeptical since I have never tried a LG product. To say the least, I am ecstatic! This a fantastic phone-especially for the price.
My list of qualities: 1)Great style 2)Reception is great 3)operating system(response time) is twice as fast as my previously owned Samsung) 4)Camera features(zoom, flash, effects, resolution, functionability)are above the call of duty. 5)Sound quality is excellent. Adjustment of speakerphone volume is a plus. 6) Durable design with very solid keypad. 7)Beautiful display, with vibrant colors which accents the external LCD.8)Side activated shutter release button is another great asset.
There is more about this phone that I am positive you will find appealing and will result in a smile.
This phone is worth every penny, undoubtedly!
One note: Since this phone is new, I have noticed that games, ringtones, and other applications are limited in variety.Hopefully, a wider array of choices will be available soon.
Plain and simple: You are making a definite wise decision if you purchase this this phone
