Product Description
Panasonic Plasma Displays set the standard for high-definition viewing. HD panels with approximately 1, 050, 000 (1366 x 768) pixels capture all the beauty of HDTV broadcasts and other HD image sources. They support all major HDTV and EDTV standards, including 1080i, 720p and 480p, and fully reproduce high-definition pictures from 720p HDTV signals. The use of a new front protection glass filter and new phosphors greatly improves the color purity of blues and reds, a weakness in previous plasma displays. This helps achieve pure, rich, natural coloration that exceeds CRT displays and approaches European EBU standards for high-definition TV. The asymmetrical arrangement of the red, blue and green cells results in a dramatically improved light-emitting balance of the three primary colors. This reproduces purer whites while maintaining a high level of brightness.
Amazon.com Product Description
With the ability to display more than a billion colors, 1,536 shades of gradation, and a contrast ratio of 3,000:1, Panasonic's 50-inch 16:9 HD-capable flat-panel plasma TV brings images to life in vivid color and extraordinarily deep contrast. Ready for use straight out of the box, it features a built-in NTSC TV tuner and five integrated stereo speakers. You can also connect it to your computer to serve as a monitor. It offers resolution of up to 1,366 x 768 pixels (with a pixel pitch, or spacing, of 0.81 x 0.81 millimeters) and an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare. The motion-adaptive 3D Y/C digital comb filter further increases brightness and clarity.

Progressive Cinema Scan (3:2 pulldown) reassembles the frame sequence of your original film-based content from DVDs to more accurately reproduce the original 24-frame-per-second material. In addition, two-tuner picture-in-picture with resizable windows allows you to watch more than one program at a time. BBE ViVA HD3D sound simulates surround sound using only two speakers and without distorting dialogue, and AI sound keeps the volume at a constant level, compensating for those jarring ups and downs. Five integrated Bass Reflex speakers and the capability for surround sound round out the audio system.

The TV's onscreen menus are available in English, Spanish, and French, and it can display Closed Captioning for the hearing impaired or silent viewing. Settings for use with you computer may be made through the separate PC menu.

The built-in NTSC receiver allows you to use the TV to receive broadcasts or when connected to an appropriate source such as cable TV or an optional external antenna. However, the manufacturer notes that an over-the-air antenna or optional set-top receiver are required to view DTV programming, and if your cable company "passes through" a DTV signal unchanged, an optional HDTV set-top receiver can decode and tune the program. Panasonic notes that standards for cable connectivity have not been finalized, however, so you should make sure this product is compatible with your cable system.

The TH-50PX20U/P allows you to connect your DVD player and one other device using high-quality component video, and also offers S-Video, composite-video inputs for connecting a camcorder or game console, and HDMI (HDCP) inputs, as well as an RGB-VGA connection for computer hookup. Audio and video inputs are located on both the front and the back of the TV for easy access. The TH-50PX20U/P includes a pedestal stand.

5 out of 5 stars *happy dance*.......2007-05-29

The one downside is that it needs to be formatted to get the full 500GB since I got 465GB (which is still amazing, in my book) at start-up. I am SO GLAD I got this when I did since not even two weeks later my harddrive decides to go awol on me.

Love it, love it, love it! I got this specifically because of the large amount of space it has and because it can be easily used between my Mac and my PC. Now I don't have to lug my laptop between places any more! Just put on the Iomega and it'll plug into any computer without needing to download a program to read it.

No problems whatsoever so far. It does get hot to the touch after many hours, but that hasn't caused any problems. I keep it in an open space on the safe side though.

5 out of 5 stars Simple to Use and Affordable.......2007-05-09

We use these drives in our office for local storage and as my home PC was getting thin on space due to my music library and digital photos I picked one up for the house.

Works great and was extremely easy to install!

5 out of 5 stars Simple Storage.......2007-05-09

Great product, I just plugged it in and it worked, very simple and easy to use.

1 out of 5 stars Cheap drive, expensive data.......2007-05-05

I purchased the Iomega 500 GB external hard drive Silver
Series. It worked fine for nearly 3 months, then it failed.
Started clunking and no computer could read it.

Sent it to Iomega data recovery and was quoted $2700 to
get the files off the drive!! My god, unless there was a
map in those files to the lost gold of El Dorado, it
would not be worth that price!

Buyer beware!!!...... you get what you pay for... cheap
drive, but very short life. They say I can get a replacement
drive.... right, like I would trust my vacation photos
on a drive that might just die at any time.
