Using groundbreaking display technology, Zenith's 42-inch P42W34H high-altitude plasma EDTV delivers superior image clarity, color, and brightness in a panel that's less than 4 inches thick. An extremely high contrast ratio of 1200:1, brightness measuring 1000 cd/m2, and a wide 160-degree view angle mean this display offers vivid viewing from just about any seat. A thicker display than standard plasmas and other internal components enable this TV for use in high-altitude locations.

The unit's widescreen (16:9) dimensions are perfect for watching DVDs and widescreen TV broadcasts in their native aspect ratios (viewing TV broadcasts requires an external TV tuner such as a VCR and an HDTV decoder). The P42W34H also sports DVI and RGB connections for use as a giant monitor for your computer. Flexible picture-in-picture lets you watch one program in a small window while viewing another. The P42W34H features intelligent image scaling, using a Rembrandt (O-Plus) scan converter that seamlessly converts TV video data to PC formats without distortion or cropping of images in either 4:3 or 16:9 formats, and also lets you zoom in with its advanced zoom capabilities.

The display uses both progressive scan and Faroudja DCDi deinterlacing to produce a high-quality image. It packs a native resolution of 852 x 480p, and can accept NTSC, HD, VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA input signals.

A set of 20-watt (10 watts per channel) speakers are available as optional accessories, or you can connect the unit to your existing audio system. The P42W34H features an audio volume leveler to avoid those loud moments, Closed Captioning when mute is activated, and gradual volume increase for more pleasant transitions from mute. In addition, the unit's lack of a fan ensures noise-free operation. It can play SAP (secondary audio program) audio, when available. The P42W34H features a remote control with onscreen equalizer, multilingual menus, and a sleep timer.

A single panel of AV inputs, which Zenith calls the "Jack Pack," lets you connect the display to such inputs as a DVD player, VCR, video game console, or a PC or Macintosh computer. The Jack Pack features high-resolution component-video inputs, S-Video in, composite-video in, and for connection to a computer, both an RGB (15-pin Type-D) input and a DVI (Digital Video Interface) jack with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) copy protection. Also included are two audio inputs--left and right RCA jacks and 1 phone plug connector--as well as left/right audio out and an RS-232c serial port for connecting external controls.

An optional wall mount or cabinet stand are available, and the unit features a built-in shock-absorbing glass damper.

Failed when needed.......2007-06-03

I purchased the tripple interface version of this product for my windows XP emergency system backup. It comes with EMC Retrospect backup/recovery software which has excellent interface for various back-up options. I have backed up Drives C & D periodically since purchase. Now I have emergency need to Restore my system... a "complete rollback of everything on Local Disk C to be exactly as it was on (date of backup)". None of the system or file restore procedures will run to completion... they run for a few minutes then stall with CPU showing 100% busy and will stay that way for 24 hours, restoring only a small portion of the back-up dataset. All of the options for backup fail during execution. Called on-line technical support and talked to three different support personnel. One was unknowledgeable of the EMC Restrospect software and gave erroneous information contradicting the restore instructions. The others were "stabbing in the dark" with no meaningful help over period of many hours. Conclusion, device/software backs-up well, but fail in the only meaningful function... system restoration.

Easy to use.......2007-05-19

I just received this item yesterday. I'm using it with a Mac G4 IBook. It's very easy to set up and use and fits well on my desk. Setting it up took only a few minutes and backing up data is very straightforward.

Our computer at home is provided by our employer so we are reluctant to store personal items. We just received a digital camera and printer for Christmas. The harddrive stores all our pictures as our digital photo album. This storage can be added to our next personal computer. We are definately not technically advanced but the external hard drive was easy to install and better yet it works.

Simple, Fast, and Plenty of Capacity.......2007-02-15

This is a great hard drive for the money. It set up flawlessly, is quick and quiet, and has a handy on/off switch. Thanks to another reviewer I was warned about the short cable. I bought a 6' USB extension thru Amazon and I'm happily backing up. There is no backup software included, but I just use it as an extra drive and copy straight from Windows Explorer.

No hassle. Plugged in USB and was backing up my hard drive within a minute. Best backup solution yet. Don't know how I lived without it. Convenient ON/OFF switch lets me power it down when not in use.
